Recall:
In an earlier chapter, we have learned how to mentally add single-digit and 2-digit numbers and
round up the numbers to near numbers.
Example: Solve 14 + 5 by using mental addition and round up the result to the nearest value?
Sol:
Step-1: Break 14 into 10 + 4
Step-2: Add units 4 + 5
Step-3: Add 10 + 9
Introduction
In this chapter, we will learn about the addition of numbers up to 10,000 and the terms used for
addition.
3.1.1 Sum:
The result obtained from the addition of two numbers is called sum.
Example:
3.2.1 Regroup:
Regrouping can be defined as the process of making groups of tens when carrying out operations
for addition with two-digit numbers (or) larger.
