Presentation of the Lesson

Our lesson for today is about “CALCULATES A SPECIFIED MEASURES OF POSITION OF

PERCENTILE FOR GROUPED DATA.”

The teacher will let the students read the specific objectives altogether.

C. Discussion
The teacher will begin to discuss calculates a specified measures of position of percentile for
grouped data.

PERCENTILE FOR GROUPED DATA

- It divides the set into one hundred equal parts. There are 99 percentiles, which are denoted as P₁,
P₂, P₃………., P₉₉.

Example1: Consider our frequency distribution on the number of Facebook reactions of cover photos of
different students, calculate P₃₀.

47-53 2
40-46 2
33-39 5
26-32 9
19-25 6
12-18 6
Solution:
Before we can answer the problem, we need first to complete the frequency distribution table.
Example 2: Calculate the 60th percentile of the scores of 50 learners in Mathematics in a 40 item test.

Group Activity:

 The class are divided into 3 groups.

 5 minutes to do the task
 Each group must prepare a short yell before the presentation
 The group shall present their task for at most 2 minutes.
 Checking and rating group’s output will be done every after the presentation.
