“K-12 is NOT effective”

K–12 is a federal education system that strives to improve learners' fundamental skills,
generate more competent citizens, and prepare graduates for lifelong learning and employment.
However, I am convinced that K-12 education is ineffective.
1. The government`s education budget. K to 12 implementers did not take into
consideration the issue on the inadequacy of facilities and other materials. Schools are not
yet ready to accommodate more students in the very limited facilities due to the
additional 2 years in high school.
2. It is unknown whether or not K–12 graduates will be able to find work. Furthermore,
businesses may not be able to handle the enormous number of high school graduates
looking for work. As a result, graduates who are unable to attend college will become
jobless, rendering the program ineffective.
3. Most families are financially unstable. Given that over 20 million Filipinos are poor,
adding two more years of high school will undoubtedly be financially burdensome for
many families at this time, thus constituting an indirect attack on our people's right to
education. The proposed annual fees for senior high school will approach 16,000 pesos
— a 1,600 percent increase in the country's lowest tuition rate, on top of other school-
related costs!
If this is the case, two years of tuition expenses, unwavering effort, and time on the side of
the students have been wasted, as they have merely ended up working in the same inhumane
Philippine labor force where labor rights are constantly abused. Students are the ones who suffer
the most when an educational system appears to be burdened with more issues than answers. By
increasing the price of schooling, K-12 exacerbates rather than improves the situation of
disadvantaged families.
As a result, I am certain that K-12 is ineffective.
