Assignment Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this assignment students will be able to:
 Understand how to write effective items for a scale.
 Generate items for test construction

Question:
The academic Self-Efficacy is based on the Self-Efficacy theory of Albert Bandura (1977) who
placed it within the framework of Social Cognitive theory.
Academic self-efficacy refers to a person's conviction that they can successfully achieve at a
designated level in a specific academic subject area.
 Your first step is to define the construct of “Academic self-efficacy”. For this purpose;
you can take any of the definitions given by any theorist and take it as a decisive model
for the construction of items. (2)
 Choose the basic elements or indicators of “academic self-efficacy” from your selected
definition and list them. (4)
 Develop seven items for "academic self-efficacy" using a 5-point scale, with 2 marks
for each item. (14)

- The items you choose should be related to the specific construct you are studying.
- Avoid using double-barreled items, i.e., items that ask multiple questions in a single
statement.
- You can search for items from existing literature such as articles or scales, but make sure to
rephrase them in your own words.
- Ensure that the items you select are easy to understand and are clearly stated.
- Keep the items brief and to the point.
- Do not use double negatives in your items.
- Lastly, please use a 5-point Likert scale format for your items
Do not copy-paste from any source, it will result in ZERO marks.

Note:
Only in the case of Assignment, 24 24-hour extra/grace period after the due date is
usually available to overcome uploading difficulties that may be faced by the students on
the last date. This extra time should only be used to meet emergencies and above-
mentioned due dates should always be treated as final to avoid any inconvenience.

Formatting guidelines:

 It is advised to compose your document in MS-Word 2003.
 Use black and blue font colors only.

Solution guidelines:
 Every student will work individually and has to write in the form of an analytical
assignment.
 Give the answer according to question.
 For acquiring the relevant knowledge don’t rely only on handouts but watch the
video lectures and use other reference books also.

Please note that your assignment will not be graded or graded as Zero (0) if:
 It has been submitted after due date
 The file you uploaded does not open or is corrupt
 It is in any format other than doc (MS. Word)
 It is cheated or copied from other students, internet, books, journals etc…
