Technical information should always be available to the foremen and mechanics, because their
careful and constant adherence to the instructions is essential to ensure vehicle road-worthiness and
safety. In addition, the normal basic safety precautions for working on motor vehicles must, as a
matter of course, be observed.

Defective O-rings on the internal oil pipe allow ATF to enter dif‐
ferential, which then becomes overfilled and oil will seep out of
breather holes of differential.
If an oil pipe is removed, it should generally be replaced.
The oil pipe must be installed only using fitting tool -3381- . Oth‐
erwise, the oil pipe may be bent and will leak.

Brakes
Together with the clutches, they shift between the individual for‐
ward gears and reverse gear of the planetary gearbox and enable
the various forward gear ratios. Unlike the clutches, the brakes
are supported on the gearbox housing. Further information can
be found in ⇒ Self-study programme No. 180 ; 5-speed automatic
gearbox 01V .
Data bus
Transportation of data. To do this, the electrical signals are
brought into a certain format (bus). For more information, refer to
⇒ Self-study programme No. 180 ; 5-speed automatic gearbox
01V and ⇒ Self-study programme No. 186 ; The CAN data bus .
Torque converter
Transfers the engine torque to the automatic gearbox and acts as
a drive-away clutch. The torque converter also includes the lock-
up clutch. For more information, refer to ⇒ Self-study programme
No. 180 ; 5-speed automatic gearbox 01V .
DSP (Dynamic shift program)
For more information, refer to ⇒ Self-study programme No. 180 ;

to detect faults,
to react to faults,
to store faults,
to register values and make them available in measured value
