3 Quality standards compliance
3.1 Certification of MAQUET SAS’s quality system
LNE/G-MED certifies that the quality system developed by MAQUET SAS for design, imple-
mentation, sales, installation and after-sales service of surgical lights complies with the
requirements of the following international standards:

ISO 13485:2004
3.2 CE Marking
Compliance with the requirements of European Directive 93/42/EEC dated 14 June 1993
relating to medical devices was assessed as described in Annex VII of the Directive. LUCEA
50-100 lights belong to Class I as described in Annex IX of Directive 93/42/EEC.
! WARNING
To be compliant with IEC 60364-7-710, lighting backup systems must function for at least 3
hours.
The external system must therefore have a capacity of at least 3 hours. The MAQUET
backup unit makes it possible to check compliance with this requirement.
! WARNING
MAQUET is not responsible for the customer's external backup system (capacity, charge
time, lifespan, etc.)
! Warning
If the system is installed with a customer backup supply, disconnect the customer battery
charger before starting the battery life test.
Reconnect the customer battery charger at the end of the test.

6 Cleaning and disinfection
Users must contact their hospital's sanitary specialists. The recommended products must be
used and the recommended procedures followed. Should there be any doubt concerning the
compatibility of active agents to be used, contact your authorised Maquet dealer.
Cleaning and disinfecting the surgical light
F Recommendation
Check that the power is switched off and the light has cooled down before starting cleaning.
General instructions concerning cleaning, disinfection and safety
Wipe the equipment with a cloth moistened with a surface cleaner. Follow the manufacturer's
dilution, application time, and temperature recommendations.
Rinse the unit with a cloth and clean water. Wipe dry.
Wipe evenly with a cloth moistened with disinfectant. Follow the manufacturer's
recommendations.
Use a cloth to rinse with clean water in order to remove residues (in particular products
containing aldehydes, quaternary ammonium or surfactants).
Wipe with a dry cloth.
Make sure no liquid residue is left on the device after cleaning.

Getinge USA product: TEC-QUAT 256.

Anios products: SURFA’SAFE; 0.5% HEXANIOS G + R; ANIOSYME P.L.A; SALVANIOS
pH10; ANIOS DDSH.

! WARNING
Solutions containing glutaraldehyde, phenol, iodine, bleach, alcohol or chloride ions must
not be used.
Fumigation methods are unsuitable for disinfecting the unit and must not be used.

7 Maintenance
7.1 Preventive maintenance

To preserve your light's original performance and reliability, annual maintenance and inspec-
tions should be performed as follows:
During the guarantee period: by a Maquet technician or Maquet-approved distributor.
Outside the warranty period: by a Maquet technician or Maquet-approved distributor, or a
hospital technician trained in the MAQUET SAS products in question. (Please contact your
Maquet dealer to undergo the technical training required.)
7.2 Basic maintenance
! WARNING
The operation and safety of the device may be affected by the removal of certain compo-
nents during servicing operations. For example: For example:
When servicing the electrical power supply,
When servicing the suspension arms and balance system,
When servicing the lighthead.
Contact your authorised Maquet after-sales service department for this type of servicing.
Daily checks (user)
Check the lightheads for chipped paint, impact marks,

any other damage, loose covers, etc.).
Check that the cap protecting the brake screw is prop-

erly seated.
Check for all the attachment screws.
Check the stability/drift of the system.
Check whether the LEDs operate correctly, by pressing

the On/Off button on the lighthead.
! WARNING
The surgical light is a high-intensity light source. Do not

look directly into it.

Daily checks (user)
Check whether the sterilisable handle clicks and locks in

place correctly; replace it if not.

Check that the remote control (optional) works properly:

- Check the state of batteries
- Check the lighthead selection function

- If there is a camera, check the zoom adjustment and
camera rotation function (0° to 180°).
Mobile stand: check the power lead for signs of

damage.

- Make sure that the light operates correctly from the
backup power supply, in case of a power cut.
If the system is installed with a customer backup

supply, disconnect the customer battery charger before
starting the battery life test.
Reconnect the customer battery charger at the end of
the test.
Monthly checks (user)
Check the lightheads for chipped paint, impact marks,

any other damage, loose covers, etc.).
Check the lighting for the entire operating (spring arm,

complete suspension with ceiling cover).

Make sure that the light operates correctly from the

backup power supply, in case of a power cut. Do the
same for the mobile versions with batteries.
Make sure that the charge left in the batteries meets
your needs.
If the system is installed with a customer backup

supply, disconnect the customer battery charger before
starting the battery life test.
Reconnect the customer battery charger at the end of
the test.

Check the verticality of the suspension tube (ceiling
model).
Check the tightness of the attachment screws on the

suspension tube (ceiling model).
Check for the stops and brake and measure their

efficiency.
Check for any loose covers and caps.
Check whether the spring arm is correctly balanced.

Spring arm to be changed every six years (wearing

part).

8 Maintenance procedures
! WARNING
Always disconnect the lighthead from the mains and let it cool before performing
maintenance.
8.1 Replacing the lighthead
Installing/removing the lighthead
! WARNING
The spring arm must be lowered in order to install the lighthead. Doing so compresses the
spring and results in a safety hazard.
Stay clear of the vertical reach of the spring arm.
Lock the spring arm in a safe position.
Installation: Example with the LUCEA 50
Connect the connectors (5).
Insert the fork (4) on the spring arm (1) and

4 tighten it in place with the Torx screw (2).

Follow the disassembly directions in the order they are given:

if the spring arm is not set to the topmost position when disassembling the lighthead, it may
spring up abruptly and pose a safety hazard.
Place the spring arm (1) at the topmost

8.2 Preliminary disassembly of the LUCEA 50 lighthead
Remove the sterilisable handle. Unscrew the two CHc M4x65 screws.

8.3 Replacing the transparent housing subassembly

be destroyed by static electricity (ESD, electrostatic discharge). An anti-static wrist strap
must be worn to eliminate this risk.

8.9 Replacing the bottom cover and fork subassembly

Read the following sections before removing the subassembly: 'Removing the top cover',
'Removing the transparent covers', 'Camera' and 'Faceted structure, collimator and control

The fuse protects the lighthead's control board in the event the voltage polarity is reversed.

section 8.6.

AQUET SAS does not guarantee the signal quality for cable lengths longer than those

proposed in the price list. To prevent potential interference with the video signal (electrical
power supply, isolation transformer), the cable paths need to be checked.

8.16 Replacing the ceiling-mounted power supply

The electrical connections must be performed by a qualified technician only, with the product
and cables disconnected from the power supply.
! WARNING
Check the polarity of all electrical connections before turning on the power.
! WARNING
Damaged wire insulation may result in the risk of electric shock. To protect against the risk of
electrocution, insert the power cables carefully.
! WARNING
IMPORTANT/MANDATORY: A cut-out with a mains voltage light indicator must be added

during installation to electrically isolate the circuits on the mains supply, all poles at the
same time.
Connect each power supply input to a circuit breaker (I = 10 A).

When installing the power supply, secure the mains cable and the suspension cable to the
tube to reduce mechanical stress on the power supply terminal blocks.

screw and washer.
Secure the cover by tightening the 10 screws.
