FIRST DRAFT ESSAY
GENETIC TESTING IS THE FUTURE

“Before we thought that our future was in the stars. Now we Know that it is in our genes". This future is
linked to genetic tests, which provide us with detailed information about a disease allowing us to Know the
family history, helping in the planning of future generations and making better health decisions.
In the first place, genetic testing can detect hereditary diseases. When diagnosing a genetic disease, the
identification of the carrier that can transmit that disease to their children is provided. How It works? Well,
genetic tests study and interact with cells or tissues to look for changes or mutations in genes, in this aspect
the genetic past is revealed. For example: Angelina Jolie discovered through a genetic test that she was an
inherited carrier of a gene that caused cancer in her mother. If Angelina had not taken the genetic test, she
might not have known that she was a hereditary carrier. In fact, it was not reliable that she would develop
that disease, even so she took more genetic tests for a long time and in the end, she was detected with
cancer, she managed to recover from the disease. However, if the follow-up test had not been done for
years, they would not have been able to detect cancer in time. Therefore, we can interpret how important it
is to know our genetic history.
Secondly, People can know the genetics of their future children. In such a way that people can consider the
idea of having a child in the future and plan it properly in case the children inherit certain diseases and can
raise it in a good environment. Likewise, there are experts who interact with parents to talk about their
future children, as well as provide important information about their genetics and risk factors, helping to
prevent future complications. In addition, it is possible to examine the fetus to see if it is affected and correct
any genetic alterations to cure the future baby. However, there are cases in which some babies are born with
a very serious disease because they were not tested for fetuses before. Many babies could have lived
without complications if their parents had intervened with fetal testing. For this reason, it is good to know
the genetics of future children in order to plan a promising future.

Lastly, one of the best benefits is that it helps you make better decisions. People can start to have new
healthy habits. If you discover that you are at risk of a certain disease, you can take some alternatives to
reduce that risk by exercising and maintaining a potential diet. Many people would not have changed their
habits if they had not known their risks. Also, you can skip unnecessary checkups or screenings if you find
you're not at risk for a certain disease. But some people avoid seeing the results and assume they have some
disease. If these people had seen their genetic test results, they might not have spent a lot of money on
unnecessary screening. Genetic tests could influence people to make good decisions.}

Genetic tests are beneficial and efficient. Some people are skeptical about the value of genetic testing.
However, many others are advocates of genetic tests as they are feasible for the detection of possible
hereditary diseases and help you make better decisions. In many ways, genetic testing is very helpful in
helping us stay healthy.
