2023 Nomination Report B1

Personal Account

As a second-year student studying Global Business, I firmly believe in the necessity of having a broad global
vision, which is best developed through cross-cultural knowledge exchanges and utilizing that global vision
and ambition to bring about social impact with my startup, Youth Incubator. Currently, Youth Incubator is
incubated in Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP).

Today at HKUST, Global Business brought me the flexibility to connect with aspring individuals and the
possibility to fulfill my own mission in provide I am starting up my own social enterprise, Youth Incubator,
with funding support from HKUST Social Good Action Fund, HKSTP, and more. We strive to alleviate
education inequality by routing and guiding students from less privileged backgrounds to extracurricular
activities offered by society.

To broaden my global perspectives and stand on different viewpoints, I have devoted myself to overseas
internships and local internships with a special background. Last summer, I stood on the war front in
Warsaw, Poland, next to the invasion of Ukraine. I acted as a researcher at the Centre for International
Relationships, aiding in the international research of Europe's geopolitical tension and supplementing
research on international relations by communicating with the Chinese Ambassador in Warsaw, Poland, in
my mother tongue, Chinese.

My local internship was at Mother's Choice, an NGO that provides support to vulnerable teenage girls.
During my tenure at Mother's Choice, I was involved in community outreach initiatives, and back-end IT
support, where I brought new perspectives to developing sustainable programs that promote teenagers' well-
being and how to involve more males in becoming aware of the situation of at-risk teenagers.

These internships laid a strong foundation for me to think from macro to micro, considering the viewpoints
of global leaders and how each policy move affects the community, as well as how vulnerable individuals in
the community can be greatly affected, both positively and negatively, by every social initiative.

My international experience during my visiting exchange at Oxford University and cross-cultural exchanges
through leading my Chinese History Club members to Guangzhou have brought me new insights into the
ongoing projects I am working on. Especially, with the teaching of economic theories during my last summer
at Oxford University, UK, has also trained me to approach various projects from multiple perspectives. When
encountering intertwined problems in the global village, knowledge of the economy in China, as well as
business practices in the Western world and Hong Kong, becomes crucial for us to successfully address these
challenges as a student majoring in Global Business.

With all the skills polished and experience gained through my major and various experiences, I am keen on
contributing back to the local community in terms of education inequality through my startup, Youth
Incubator. We aim to gamify the experiential learning of students in Hong Kong and make an impact by
helping them explore their hidden potentials. In this home, every person should have their place to shine, and
it is up to us to ensure they find that place.
