PRACTICAL EXAMINATION -APRIL 2024

SUB: INORGANIC CHEMISTRY PRACTICAL SUB. CODE :

CLASS : I. MSC DATE : 10.04.2024 BATCH : I
Q.1 Analyse the given inorganic mixture systematically and find the common ions and less
common ions present in the mixture. Report with confirmatory tests.
Q. 2. Prepare hexathioureacopper (I)chloride- from the raw materials and display for evaluation
Q-3 .Estimate the amount of Zinc present in the whole of the given solution. You are provided
with pure crystals of Zinc sulphate and solution of EDTA
Procedure:
Preparation of Standard Zinc Sulphate Solution
1. Weigh 0. 03 g of given zinc sulphate heptahydrate
2. Make up into 100 ml using distilled water
3. Find the strength of Zn solution
Titration I: Standardization of EDTA
1. Fill up the burette with EDTA
2. Pipette out 20 ml of zinc sulphate into a clean conical flask
3. Add two drops of EBT and ml of ammoniacal buffer
4. Titrate the pink solution against EDTA taken in the burette.
5. The colour change from pink to blue is the end point.
6. Repeat the titration for concordant titre value
7. From the titre value find the strength of EDTA solution..
Titration II: Estimation of Zinc
1. Fill up the burette with EDTA
2. Make up the given solution and pipette out 20 ml into a conical flask
3. Add two drops of EBT and ml of ammoniacal buffer
4. Titrate the pink solution against EDTA taken in the burette.
