What is this module about?
MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY
Directions: Identify whether the following symbols are used in the Sacrament of Baptism
or Confirmation. Write B if it is for Baptism and C if it is for Confirmation. Write your
answer on the space provided before the number.
Day 1
Concept Notes:
1
The Eucharist is the very sacrifice of the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus which He instituted
to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until his return in glory.
(CCCC#271)
The essential elements are wheat bread and grape wine. (CCCC#279)
Holy Communion increases our union with Christ and with his Church. It preserves and renews the
life of grace received at Baptism and Confirmation and makes us grow in love for our neighbor. It
strengthens us in charity, wipes away venial sins and preserves us from mortal sin in the future.
(CCCC#292)
Jesus instituted the Eucharist on Holy Thursday “the night on which he was betrayed”, as he
celebrated the Last Supper with his apostles. (CCCC#272)
The Eucharist is the source and summit of all Christian life. (CCCC#274)
The Church recommends that the faithful, if they have the required dispositions, receive Holy
Communion whenever they participate at Holy Mass. However, the Church obliges them to
receive Holy Communion at least once a year during the Easter season. (CCCC#290)
To receive Holy Communion one must be fully incorporated into the Catholic Church and be in
the state of grace, that is, not conscious of being in mortal sin. Anyone who is conscious of
having committed a grave sin must first receive the sacrament of Reconciliation before going to
Communion. Also important for those receiving Holy Communion are a spirit of recollection
and prayer, observance of the fast prescribed by the Church, and an appropriate disposition of
the body (gestures and dress) as a sign of respect for Christ.
Exercise
Directions: In the boxes below, draw the essential elements of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist
and explain them.
Day 2
Directions: Create a simple prayer that you may pray on your First Communion.

Day 3
Concept Notes:
Receiving the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist is very
important in our Christian life
The Sacraments of Initiation are vital to the life of a Christian as they are the foundation of a
Christian’s life. The Sacraments of Initiation welcome the members of the Christian community
into the life of Christ and give us purpose and a sense of belonging into our true family.
The sacraments touch all the important moments of Christian life. (CCCC#250)
When we received the Sacraments of Initiation, we officially became members of the Church
and as members of the Church we have the responsibility to participate in the different Church
activities which can help us to strengthen our faith.
EXERCISE
A: Through the deliverance of the Israelites from the slavery of the Egyptians, they were given a
chance to start a new life. Likewise, as we receive the Sacrament of Baptism, we are also
given a new life with Christ because we are freed from our sins. As a baptized person, how
will you live out a new life with Christ? Give at least three ways.

B: When David was anointed as King, he was strengthened and empowered by God to his mission
of leading His people. As confirmed Catholics, we are also anointed to participate in the
mission of Christ. Cite two situations where you think you have participated in the mission
