Budgetary Process (6)

1. Appraise Cost Reporting Systems

Topic Outline

This topic deals with Cost Report Systems and how they vary in type and complexity
but essentially have three components; budget, commitment and expense.
Traditionally, cost reporting systems manifest themselves in the Contractors
organisations, as they are a key indicator as to whether a project and ultimately a
contractor is profitable. There is a significant difference between cost reporting and
financial reporting and the Quantity Surveyor should ensure that the differences are
understood.
