No: 00 PURPOSE: ‘The purpose of this work instruction is to establish and maintain the documented procedure to ensure that the sampling is carried out as per the applicable specifications / standards, SCOPE: This work instruction is imended for drawing samples for testing HSAW and LSAW pipes / HR plate / Coil RESPONSIBILITY: Manager (LAB) / Dy. Manager (QC) will be responsible for tensile testing and maintaining the records of testing. APPLICABLE CODE: As per latest edition of API SL/ Customer specification / other relevant standards as specified in the approved QAP / MPS / Process sheet / Product plan. PROCEDURE FOR LOT SAMPLING: i) Prepare a heat list and no. of plates in each heat to determine the number of tests/samples to be drawn as per the approved MPS / QAP. ii) Prepare Sample Identification Report forthe selected pipes. iii) Mark the samples on the selected pipe and stamp the hard punch with identification mark along with pipe number iv) Verify the marking details with Sample Identification Report and take the stamp of Third Party Inspection agency (If required) on each sample. SAMPLE PREPARATION: i) Sample to be cut from pipe as per marking, The sample size should be cut at least 20 mm extra, from cach side, than the finished dimension required. ii) Remove the burs & straighten the samples (if required) iis) Prepare a work order for work shop & also mention the respective drawing reference no. for preparation in the work order. iv) Submit all samples along with work order & Sample Identification Report to work shop. y)_ Cheek the prepared specimen as per the reference drawing & work order before taking the delivery from the workshop. vi) In case of any discrepancies, inform the Lab In charge.
