Invitation To Study Law at Lloyd
India is on the threshold of a Development
Revolution. Higher education including legal
education will determine the quality and direction
of the Development Process. With millions of
talented youth with higher education entering the
job market, nothing can stop the Nation from
achieving its development goals sooner than later.
As a country committed to rule of law, democracy
and human rights, it is the function of legal
institutions to organize development in such a
manner that the Constitution prescribes. In this
process, legal personnel have a significant role to
play outside the conventional role of dispute
settlement.
Law study, therefore, is not merely a private good
but also a public good in which the society has
special interest to sustain. There is no other
subject so close to life in all its aspects as the
subject of law. For the same reason, study of law is
a life-long process for which university education is
just the beginning.
It is common experience of many of us in the
teaching profession that when students join the
law school, they are determined to work for justice
to weaker sections and wanting to change systems
that perpetuate inequality and exploitation in
society. It is also our experience that once they
complete studies and leave the law school, they
tend to lose their idealism and join forces which
maintain the same old social order. Of course, there
is lot of money one can make in a legal career and
there is nothing wrong in advocating the cause of
the rich who can pay enough money for legal
services.
But if such action results in non-availability or non-
affordability of quality legal services to the poor
and the marginalized, there is serious risk of the
profession getting alienated from the people and
justice getting derailed in the process. This is
suicidal for the profession as well as for the country
and its constitutional values.
A recent report submitted by the Law Commission
has recommended several changes to the Advocates
Act towards restructuring the organization and
management of the legal profession in India with a
view to maintain the nobility and public interest goals
of the profession. Furthermore, the profession is
today diversified into litigation bar, corporate and in-
house lawyers, mediators, arbitrators and trans-
national legal practitioners. In emerging areas of
legal practice, lawyers are compelled to partner with
professionals outside law to provide appropriate
services to the clients. With trade in legal services
becoming a reality under the WTO, lawyers have to
prepare themselves for trans-national legal practice
as well which will change the character of the
profession as we see it today. In short, those who
are entering the practice of law in future may have to
adopt new ways of thinking in respect of delivery of
services and management of profession.
Study of law prepares one not only to become a legal
practitioner. It enables one to take a variety of
career options including judiciary, journalism, civil
service, politics, teaching and social work. In all
these careers, what makes law study relevant is its
relation to 'JUSTICE', the eternal quest of every
human being. You are welcome to study law and be
a justice worker for maximizing justice and fairness
in society.
In Lloyd College of Law, you will find plenty of
opportunities not just to earn a law degree, but to
learn many things about law from outside the
classroom and the library. Learning law through
experience gives you insights on how law functions in
society. Look out for occasions for experiential
learning even if you have to forego your vacations to
avail of such experiences. Improve your
communication skills and your knowledge of
contemporary events. A great career full of
intellectual challenges awaits you. Remember the
adage that “Law is a jealous mistress” and there is no
room in it for the lazy and the mediocre.

In its seventh Edition, the competition was renamed as Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Asian Jural Conclave 2021‐
22. This Jural Conclave was organized by Lloyd Law College with technical support from Menon Institute of
Legal Advocacy Training (MILAT) from 25th to 27th February, 2022 in hybrid mode.
The Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Asian Jural Conclave was divided into three parts i.e., Mooting Competition,
Students' Conference and Asian Colloquium. The Mooting competition consisted of India round and the Asian
round, along with a Law Students Conference and Colloquium that was held via., online video conferencing
medium, ZOOM cloud meetings from Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida, India.
India Round (26th-28th November, 2021)
The India round of the competition was held on 26th to 28th November, 2021 to select qualifying teams from
India to participate in the Asian round. It saw an overwhelming registration from 51 teams across India out of
which 40 teams representing national law universities, central & state universities and other leading law
colleges participated in the competition. The competition was inaugurated by the gracious hands of Hon'ble
Mr. Justice S Thurairaja, Judge, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Prof. (Dr.) Dalip Ukey, Vice Chancellor,
Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai. Hon'ble Mr. Justice L. Nageswara Rao, Justice, Judge,
Supreme Court of India was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Ceremony.Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President, SILF and
Bar Association of India, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Chief Justice, High Court of Judicature at
Allahabad, as Special Address.

Law Students' Conference

The idea of the Law Students' Conference is to provide a forum for interaction and exchange of ideas among the law students from different
countries for their excellence in legal education and professional development. Understanding the legal system of each other's country will be
mutually bene icial in the context of professional development, trade in legal services and law reform.
The Law Students Conference 2022 was held on 26th and 27th February, 2022 on the theme “Technology and Future of Law”. It was an exercise
aimed at promoting research, writing and presentation skills of law students from Asian countries. In the Student's Conference, 13 research
articles on different sub –themes under the main theme were presented.

The Chief Guest at the Inaugural and Valedictory Function were Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.M. Khanwilkar and Hon'ble Ms. Justice Indira Banerjee,
Judge, Supreme Court of India, respectively. The dignitaries who graced the event were Hon'ble Mr. Justice Anil Kumar Sinha, Judge, Supreme

S. THURAIRAJA DINESH MAHESHWARI Learned Attorney General for India three decades. The competition was organised from 15th to 18th Feb 2023.
With VIPs and guests from across the globe in attendance, the event elicited a variety of emotions. On 15th February, 2023, the event commenced with the Inaugural
Judge, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka Judge, Supreme Court of India Chair Person, Global Jural Conclave
Ceremony which was graced by the revered and illustrious presence of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Judge, Supreme Court of India, as Chief Guest, and Mr. R.
Venkataramani, learned Attorney General for India, Chairperson, Global Jural Conclave as the Guest of Honour. Justice Maheshwari too emphasized that we need a Global
Community for the Global Crisis.
The event concluded with the Valedictory Ceremony, which was graced by the presence of Hon'ble Mr. Justice S. Thurairaja, judge, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, and Mr. R.
Venkataramani, learned Attorney General for India, Chairperson, Global Jural Conclave as the Guest of Honour. The International Students Journal “Lloydians” published
by Thomson Reuters was unveiled at this event by our Chief Guest, Hon'ble Mr. Justice S. Thurairaja.
The Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon Global Jural Conclave, 2023 was divided into three parts, the Mooting Competition, Students' Conference and the Judicial Colloquium:
8th Prof. N.R Madhava Mooting Competition Theme-”Economic Exploitation of Natural Resources and Humanitarian Crisis”

The Mooting competition featured twenty-eight competing teams. The Moot proposal was drafted by Dr. Anant Vijay Maria, Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, and
resolved by Mr. R. Venkatramani, Learned Attorney General of India. Twenty-two of the ifty or more registered teams from India made it to the Oral Round. Bangladesh,
Nepal, and Nigeria were some of the additional nations represented. The focus of the moot court proposal was “Economic Exploitation of Natural Resources and
Humanitarian Crisis”, which addressed the rising international legal challenges of ecocide and climate migration.

The second part of the Global Jural Conclave was the Law Student's Conference. The researchers of the mooting teams participated in the Students' Conference which was
held on 16th and 17th February, 2023. A total of 28 papers were presented in the Students' Conference on the theme 'Dynamics of Liberty and Rights in Crisis'. The
research papers were evaluated prior and the presentations too were judged by academicians from India and abroad
Best Presenter Award was won by Christa Ann Jai, Mar Gregorias College of Law, Kerala

Global Judicial Colloquium 2023 Theme- “Crisis Management and Justice Delivery: Comparative Perspective”

As part of the Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Global Jural Conclave, the Commonwealth Comparative Constitutional and Public Law Colloquium was also conducted on
February 17. The topic of the Colloquium was “Crisis Management and Justice Delivery: A Comparative Perspective.” At the Colloquium, faculty members from prestigious
law schools in India and abroad presented papers.

 CONVOCATION 2022
On May 7, 2022, Lloyd Law College held its Graduation and Recognition ceremony to
confer degrees upon the graduates of B.A.LL.B. (2016‐2021) and LL.B. (2018‐2021)
batches and honour the toppers of the respective batches. The event was graced by
the salubrious presence of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, Chairperson,
Lokpal/Former Judge, Supreme Court of India as the Chief Guest on the occasion. It
was a matter of honour for the college to have as the Guests of Honour, Dr. Anjali
Mittal, Dean, Faculty of Law, Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) and Mr. R.
Venkataramani, Learned Attorney General for India. The celebrations commenced
with the academic procession. After the customary lighting of the lamp, the
dignitaries took their places atop the dais, and the college administration formally
greeted the guests, faculty, and graduates. In addition to the of icial and solemnized
conferring of law degrees upon the graduates, this ceremony witnessed the
felicitation of excellent performers who brought laurels to the college by topping
university examinations and bagging college medals as result of their merit,
diligence and perseverance.
The awardees of the Padma Bhushan Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon Gold and Silver
Medals included university Rank 1 holder Ms. Manya Jain and Rank 2 holder
Mr. Rishabh Tripathi from the B.A.LL.B. (2016‐2021) batch. From the LL.B.
(2018‐2021) batch, Ms. Princy Chaudhary, university Rank 1 and
Ms. Shubhangi, university Rank 2 were felicitated by the dignitaries.

Lloyd Law College organized annual Convocation Ceremony for the B.A.LL.B. (2015‐
2020) and LL.B. (2017‐2020) batches on May 07, 2023. The distinguished presence of
Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest,
along with Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President of SILF (Society of Indian Law Firms) and Bar
Association of India, as the Guest of Honour, made joyous occasion even more
enlightening and endearing. Lloyd Law College paid tribute to the 60‐year legal career of
Dr Lalit Bhasin, a legend in the ield of legal practice, and expressed gratitude for his
continued mentorship and contributions to the institution. The budding lawyers were
urged to embrace their social responsibility as Prof. (Dr.) N.R. Madhava Menon, a
visionary and pioneer of modern legal education in India, was fondly remembered for
his compassion, humility, and peerless contributions to the legal education and
profession. Hence, in reverence, the ceremony was dedicated to his memory. Towards
this, the Lloyd fraternity presented a short documentary ilm depicting the life of the
esteemed Professor Menon as a tribute. Once again, Lloyd Law College students
demonstrated their academic prowess by securing top university positions, bringing
honour to the institution and faculty. Ms. Sunidhi Pandey of the B.A.LL.B. (2017‐2022)
cohort was honoured for her outstanding achievement of topping CCS University and
being awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon Gold
Medal for Academic Excellence. In addition, the Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon Silver
Medal was awarded to Mr. Abhijeet Sidh of the B.A.LL.B. (2027‐2022) cohort
for his outstanding academic performance.
