MEDIA FOR TEACHING ACCOUNTING

This assignment will count towards your final mark.


Ensure that you answer each question according to the mark allocation indicated. All
work must be written in your own words.

1. Identify and discuss teaching requirements that you need to be conversant with to
plan your instruction effectively. [12]
2. Choose THREE (3) media that can be used for the instruction of Accounting within
your own context. With each medium, identify the advantage, disadvantage and
how you would overcome the disadvantage. [10]
3. Suppose you are a Grade 10 Accounting teacher and you are about to introduce
the study of bookkeeping accounting to your class. Choose a teaching approach
that you think would be suitable for this lesson within your own context. USE THE
CAPS DOCUMENT.

Hint: Discuss the teaching approach you have chosen by answering the following
questions (provide a relevant heading in each instance):

(a) Give a detailed description of the teaching approach you have chosen. (5)
(b) Briefly discuss the advantages of the approach you have selected and how it
can be used to optimise learners’ participation in the classroom. (5)
(c) Discuss the possible limitations/disadvantages of the teaching method and
how you are going to overcome/address these limitations/disadvantages.

4. Textbooks remain the principal source of knowledge and the approach of the
textbook largely determines how and when each theme is introduced and
developed. Both the learner and teacher use the textbook as a primary source of
information.
(a) Identify the roles that a textbook fulfils for both the teacher and learners. (8)

(b) The use of a textbook has been deemed to be less engaging/interesting by


most learners. Analyse FIVE (5) practical ways you would use a textbook in
your Accounting class to keep your learners engaged. (10)
