Task 1: The chart below shows the percentage of a drug company’s total sales, by

region, from 2002 to 2006.


Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

The bar graph illustrates the proportion of a drug company’s sales encompassing Asia,
Europe, and America over the period from 2002 to 2006

As seen generally across the board, Asia topped the list in the total sales of drugs,
showing the massive consumption of this these products, while American was the
smallest market for the company. Moreover, whilst there was an increased trend for
Asian’s sales, the remaining regions showed an a decreased trend over the entire period.

In terms of Asia, being ranked the third, this country accounted for only 25% in 2002,
the statistics of this country increased marginally by 2% or 5% compared to the previous
year/. However, each subsequent year experienced marginal increases of 2% to
5% in Asian sales. By 2006, the figures for Asia reached a peak at 40%, which were was
10% higher than both those in Europe and America surpassing both Europe and
America by 10%
Regarding Europe and America, the data on America had the highest sales of drugs,
making up for 41% in 2002. Besides, the sales of drugs in Europe peaked at 38% in 2004.
After dropping gradually over 6% from 2003 to 2005, the figures for American sales of
drugs American sales reached/landed at 30%, which was the same percentage as
matching Europe’s share

demonstrated a steady and consistent growth pattern. Each subsequent year saw a slight increase
in sales, ranging from 2% to 5%, when compared to the figures from the previous year. By the
time 2006 rolled around, the figures for Asia had reached an impressive peak at 40% of the
total sales. This was a considerable 10% higher than the sales in both the European and
American markets.

On the other hand, Europe and America exhibited a different trend. In 2002, America had the
highest sales of drugs, contributing to 41% of the total. Europe wasn't far behind with sales
peaking at 38% in 2004. However, the American market experienced a gradual decline over the
years, with sales dropping by 6% each year from 2003 to 2005. By 2006, the American sales
figures hit a low of 30%, which, interestingly, was the same percentage as Europe's share in the
same year.
