HABITAT LOSS
Habitat destruction occurs when a
natural habitat is no longer able to
support its native species. The
organisms once living there have
either moved to elsewhere or are
dead, leading to a decrease in
biodiversity and species numbers.
Habitat destruction is in fact the
leading cause of biodiversity loss
and species extinction worldwide.

N
Or overharvesting, refers to harvesting
a renewable resource to the point of
diminishing returns. Continued
overexploitation can lead to the
destruction of the resource, as it will be
unable to replenish. The term applies to
natural resources such as water
aquifers, grazing pastures and forests,
wild medicinal plants, fish stocks and
other wildlife.

CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change is the long-term
alteration of temperature patterns
and weather conditions caused
by human activities, primarily the
release of greenhouse gases. It
leads to a range of negative
impacts, including rising
temperatures, extreme weather
events,
BIODIVERSITY LOSS
and ecological 15
disruptions.

MELTING ICE AND
RISING SEA LEVEL 2024
MAIN CAUSES OF CURRENT The melting of glaciers and ice caps, as well
BIODIVERSITY LOSS as the thermal expansion of seawater,
contribute to rising sea levels, which
threaten coastal communities and
ecosystems.

Reduce Pollution
Planting trees can significantly
sustain biodiversity. The major habitat
of various animal and bird species is
composed of trees.
