THEATRE
PROPOSAL

2024
CHARACTERISTICS OF
OUR PERFORMANCES

Audience Participation
A trademark of Stories in a Bag plays is the possibility the students
have (whatever their age), to come on stage and play during the
actual performance. They have instances of active participation and
interaction through a real level of protagonism.

Comprehension
The language used is at the students' grasp. At the same, the text
produced verbally is fully scaffolded by body language. Everything that
is said is clearly communicated by physicality all along the play. This
grants understanding by all the spectators.

Values
The themes we deal with are varied. All of them involve students’ concerns
according to their ages; such as: bullying, respect for self and others, self-
confidence, respect for differences, inclusion vs. isolation from others,
expressing feelings, complying with rules and the exercise of universal rights.

Parrot is sad. Elephant plans a party and starts collecting presents for Parrot.
These are some fruits: an apple, a melon and a banana.
Tiger shows up, carrying a basket with fruit for Parrot. Suddenly, Monkey
appears and eats it all up. Tiger, very angrily, demands Monkey to bring him
the fruit back. Monkey starts looking for it.
By chance, Monkey finds the fruit Elephant is displaying for Parrot’s birthday
party; so, he picks it for Tiger. Then, feeling very surprised and worried,
Elephant starts looking for the fruit too.
Several, super funny encounters and disagreements take place until they all
find a solution.

Nihor is a huge sea dragon. The legend goes that every ten years, Nihor
attacks a kingdom and eats a member of royalty up.
At the same time, the Queen of Northgard possesses the most valuable jewel
ever. So, when Nihor attacks her realm, she thinks the beast wants her
necklace. But Nihor has come for its meal…
In the meantime, two Vikings hear of this jewel and sail to Northgard to raid the
kingdom and rob the queen’s necklace. But they meet the sea monster…

The dragon in this story is embodied by a large (non-childish) puppet with a 1

metre-long head.

Length: 55 minutes

Level: Intermediate to Upper

B1/B2 - FCE

Clowns are rehearsing for the D day: the opening show. Gee encounters many
obstacles in her clown routine. The other performers at the circus can do
amazing acrobatic schemes and choreographies. Gee feels she’s just not good
enough. Bully and her Buddy mock her and belittle her performance.
Everybody at the circus is afraid of The Bully, especially The Bully’s Buddy,
who complies with all of The Bully’s orders, due to fear of being picked too.
Several gang behaviours are displayed by this negative leader and his right
hand to harass Gee. Both cue in a horrendous mocking chant, invade her
territory, push and threaten her all along rehearsals. There´s a turning point
which aims at raising awareness of what bullying really is and the covert
mechanism it entails.
