In this research, a waste disposal system for multi-story buildings is covered. The advantages of the
garbage chute system are defined, as well as its definition. The system can only be used on brand-new
structures; it can first be used in commercial structures to familiarize people with the system. This
research aims to present the parts and mechanism of a garbage chute for it effectively work and do its
purpose. Also, to identify the architectural symbol for garbage chuted used in plan.

INTRODUCTION
For better work and education, people are relocating to big cities. Prospects and contemporary ways
of life. In the next 50 years, population growth in major cities is anticipated to pick up. As a result,
there is an increase in demand for residential space in these cities. To meet the rising demand for
residential units in large cities, modern dense residential clustering inhabitation building solutions are
becoming more prevalent. This contemporary residential way of life influenced changes in product
consumption patterns that resulted in a rise in packaged goods consumption. More than 95% of
market products require packaging, which after product usage creates solid waste (SW). The number
of ready-made and simple-to-prepare meal recipes and items marketed toward working sectors,
students, and youth is also rising. Garbage disposal is a task that must be done in order to operate any
property, whether it be a multi-story structure, a single-family home, or a commercial, industrial, or
residential facility. But there is a different approach to this issue. The garbage chute, however, is the
greatest choice for residential high-rise structures.

LITERATURE
Trash should not accumulate in a condo suite where it can attract bugs or pose a health risk thanks
to a waste chute system on each floor. It is a crucial element of the condo building's waste
management system.
A building's vertical space that runs past each story is known as a garbage chute system. Each floor
has a door that allows inhabitants to dump their trash into the chute. On each floor, a small chamber
generally houses this door. Putting trash into the chute causes it to fall into a compactor or dumpster
at the bottom.
The release of biological or technological household waste is greatly simplified by the use of a
technical structure called a garbage chute, which is often shaped like a circle and runs through the
floors of a building. In comparison to outdated, concrete garbage chutes, modern garbage chutes
ought to perform at a higher level of functionality and conform to technical criteria. The chutes should
in particular be soundproof, fire resistant, self-priming, and made entirely of metal.
The barrel, loading valves, gate, fire damper, cleaning device with automatic extinguishing
methods of a potential fire in the barrel, ventilation unit, and trash collection chamber with containers
and sanitary equipment are the primary components of the garbage chute.
Special door gates are installed in the garbage chute to dispose of MSW. These door gates are
made to allow household waste to enter the chute but prevent it from exiting. There are gateways
either across the floor or on each floor. Frequently found on the platforms between floors. It was
another common practice in Stalin's homes to install a garbage door inside the flat, either in the

hallway or the kitchen, and the rubbish line next to the sewage riser. Currently, garbage chute is not
yet considered in most apartments for sanitary purposes.

Garbage chutes are typically made up of the following components:

 COMPACTOR- this may be a single waste container or multiple containers for a recycling
system.
 DISCHARGE DOOR
 STEEL CHUTE- features expansion joints that are usually located on each floor.
 CHUTE SUPPORT FRAMES are installed on each floor and are usually made of steel
angles and bar stock.
 TRASH CHUTE INTAKE DOOR- found on each floor and is typically hinged at the
bottom.
 LOADING VALVE- When the loading valve is closed, solid waste is received and can be
dumped freely into the chute's barrel.
 DEVICE FOR CLEANING, WASHING, AND DISINFECTING THE TRUNK- The
KOM waste chute cleaning chamber, a device for cleaning, washing, and disinfecting the
trunk, provides for routine sanitization of the interior surface of the dust chute as well as for
putting out fires in the trunk.
 BAFFLE- The ventilation unit, which is situated above the waste chute, allows for natural
ventilation of the rubbish collection chamber and the garbage chute. The assembly consists of
a vent pipe, an apron, a deflector, a throttle valve, and a ventilation flap. The barrel of the
chute is used for ventilation. A passage unit (sleeve) is inserted to rigidly fix the ventilation
pipe in the aperture of the roof plate.
 SHIBBER- designed to cover the trunk of the garbage chute when removing household
waste, performing sanitary measures, and performing repairs.
 GARBAGE CHUTE CONTAINER (GARBAGE CHUTE) - The container into which the
garbage is discharged from the trash chute is known as the trash chute container. Required to
make garbage collection on the street more convenient. It is seen as usual if the trash pours
directly into the garbage disposals bin rather than building up in the gate.
 THE COUPLING IS POWER UNLOADING- It is intended to lessen the load placed on
the support flange and overlap of the rubbish collection chamber by the garbage chute.
 NOZZLE GATE WITH A TRUNK SUPPORT- supports the garbage chute so that it can
close the rubbish collection chamber and slide waste from the barrel into the container.

The chute is designed to allow waste to fall through it and into a dumpster or other waste
receptacle at the bottom of the building. The chute is typically made of steel or concrete and is
designed to be fire-resistant. The chute is also designed to be easy to clean and maintain.

Some chutes contain amenities like a floor support grid or a sanitizer. Others have coatings,
isolator pads, and spiraling expansion sections for sound absorption.

TYPES OF GARBAGE CHUTES

Garbage chutes come in a variety of designs, including:

 LINEN CHUTES- They work well in commercial settings where the waste is related to linen
and laundry, such as hospitals, schools, and hotels.
 WASTE CHUTES- They are a part of high-rise residences and structures that must eliminate
waste from various levels.
 CHUTES FOR GARBAGE- To collect trash and separate it into dry and moist waste for
better recycling, a garbage chute system is erected.
 DEBRIS CHUTES- This kind of trash chute can extend up to 200 feet in length. At the
lowest position, it can be utilized to remove the debris.

ARCHITECTURAL SYMBOL FOR GARBAGE CHUTE

OBJECTIVES
To understand the various aspects about garbage chutes, this research aims to answer the
following:

 How important garbage chute is

 What are the parts and mechanisms of a garbage chute for it to effectively work and do its
purpose
 What is the architectural symbol for garbage chute used in plan preparation
 What are the types of garbage chutes
 What is garbage chute

CONCLUSION
A garbage chute can be quite useful to have installed while building. Every aspect of construction
is impacted by a garbage chute, from productivity to safety. The garbage chute should always be
considered in a residential building as it provides convenience since the workers on the buildings
don't need to transfer or move the trash from one floor to another because they can easily put it in the
garbage chute and easily dispose of the trash. The other benefits of garbage chutes are cleaner
workspaces and a safe environment. In dealing with trash every day, a residential building should
consider a garbage chute since without it means the dumps of trashes will keep on piling until
someone decides to throw it away in the building.
