Pre-Load
1. Adjust fuel and payload. Note down Center of gravity (MAC) (e.g. 21.60%)
2. Generate flight plan on simbrief.com and download as PDF
a. Set departure and arrival airport, departure and arrival runways
b. Airframe: A320-200

Aircraft Power
1. Go to overhead panel
a. Turn on battery 1 and 2 (BAT 1, BAT 2)

b. Turn on external power (EXT PWR) if available
c. Turn on fuel pumps (L TK PUMPS 1&2, PUMP 1, PUMP 2, R TK PUMPS 1&2)
d. Turn on navigation lights (NAV & LOGO)
e. Set strobe light to automatic (STROBE)

Multi-Function Control and Display Unit (MCDU) Set-up

i. Click RETURN – no company route
ii. Insert alternate airport from SimBrief flight plan (page 1)

b. Insert COST INDEX from SimBrief flight plan (page 1)

c. Insert cruising altitude from SimBrief flight plan (CRZ FL/TEMP) (page 1)

2. Go to second page of initialization page (using right arrow on MCDU)

a. Insert zero fuel weight / center of gravity (ZFW/ZFWCG) with MAC value noted
above (Pre-Load, Step 1). ZFW is already set, insert both values.

b. Insert total fuel on board (BLOCK)

i. Total fuel weight in KG is found on upper screen in middle of cockpit (FOB)

ii. Insert BLOCK value in tons (e.g. 4376 kg -> 4.376 t)

3. Go to flight plan page (F-PLN)
a. Open departure waypoint page (FROM)
b. Open AIRWAYS page
c. Enter waypoints and airways from flight plan
i. Enter first waypoints into TO point (e.g. SPL from flight plan above)
1. If multiple options show up, choose the correct coordinates (usually
the first is the nearest – real Airbus shows distance for each)
ii. Enter first airway (e.g. Y88 from FL above) into VIA point
1. It is good if nothing appears on the page. It will only complain if it
can not be found. It appears when inserting the next waypoint.
iii. Continue adding waypoints and airways into TO and VIA points
1. If an airway is missing, just skip it and insert the next waypoint
iv. If the page is full, click TMPY INSERT to insert into FPL

v. Scroll down to END OF F-PLN using UP arrow

1. Click on last-added waypoint
2. Enter next waypoint and enter in NEXT WPT
3. Continue going to the last waypoint in F-PLN and insert waypoints
until complete
d. Check flight plan on Primary Flight Display (PFD) using PLAN mode
i. Step through waypoints with UP and DOWN keys on MCDU
e. Open departure airport page (FROM)
i. Open DEPATURE page
ii. Select departure runway from SimBrief flight plan
iii. Select departure SID from SimBrief flight plan

iv. Click on INSERT*

4. Go to performance page (PERF)
a. Go to wabpro.cz/A320
i. Select A320, CFM engines, Metric units, origin airport
ii. Click METAR button to retrieve current weather information
iii. Choose Flaps 1+F (or 2/3 if taking off with flaps 2/3)
iv. Choose PACKS on, ANTI-ICE off, RUNWAY dry or wet depending on weather
v. Select active runway
vi. Click calculate
b. Note down QNH (barometric altimeter) and T_FLEXMAX

c. Insert transition altitude into MCDU using local value (TRANS ALT) – Google this
d. Set FLAPS/THS to 1/0 (or 2 or 3 depending on flaps settings) – THS does not work in
MFS yet
e. Insert T_FLEXMAX from above into FLEX TO TEMP on MCDU

Auto Pilot (AP) Set-up

1. Set altitude to cruising altitude from SimBrief flight plan. For example 19000 feet for FL190
2. Change barometric pressure reference to hPa (click on black material under knob)
3. Set barometric pressure to QNH from tool used in previous steps
4. Turn on flight director (FD under barometric reference knob)

APU and Power

1. Go to overhead panel
a. Turn on APU master switch (MASTER SW)
b. Turn on APU starter (START) below master switch
c. Wait for APU to spin up, start APU bleed once available light is lit (APU BLEED)
d. Turn off external power (EXT PWR)

Push and Start

1. Turn on beacon light on overhead panel (BEACON)
2. Call pushback tug over ATC or with Shift+P
3. Release parking brake once tug connected
4. Go to ignition panel below throttle control
a. Set engine mode selector to IGN/START (to the right)
b. Turn on Engine Master 1 (ENG 1) – observe N2
c. Turn on Engine Master 2 (ENG-2) – observe N2
5. Stop pushback and set parking brake
6. Lower flaps to 1 (or depending on your setting from above)
7. Arm speed brakes by pushing handle upwards until white circle is visible
8. Switch engine mode selector back to normal
Taxi to the runway
1. Go to overhead panel
a. Set nose light to TAXI
b. Switch off APU master switch (MASTER SW)
c. Switch off APU bleed (APU BLEED)
2. Release parking brake
3. Add throttle and taxi to runway
4. Hold short of runway
5. Go to overhead panel
a. Switch on landing lights (LAND L and R)
b. Switch nose light to take-off (TO)
6. Enter the runway and hold on the center line

Take-off
1. Set autobrake to MAX (for aborted take-off) and ensure flaps and speed brakes are set
2. Throttle up to 80% (second click, flex)
3. Ensure that auto throttle turned on
4. Rotate at V1
5. Raise gear if positive climb
6. At 200 knots, throttle back to climb power
7. Raise flaps to upward position
8. At safe speed and altitude, turn on autopilot (AP)
9. Push heading, speed, and altitude knob to engage managed mode (top of the knob in MFS)
10. Turn off landing lights and nose light on overhead panel
11. Reduce throttle to THR LVR mode

Cruise
1. Enjoy 😊

Descent
1. Descent to altitude of the ILS entry using the constraints on the PFD (primary flight display),
CSTR mode – go to PLAN mode and scroll through F-PLN if too far away
a. Rule of thumb is to be at 3000 feet 10 NM from the runway
b. Altitude graph can be seen on second-last page of SimBrief flight plan

ILS Approach
1. Go to flight plan page on MCDU (F-PLN)
a. Select departure airport (DEST)
b. Open ARRIVAL page
c. Select an available ILS approach, preferably from the SimBrief flight plan
d. Select the transition from the SimBrief flight plan

2. Get destination weather information from ATIS frequency of airport – or e.g. windy.com
a. Note QNH (altimeter on ATC), temperature, wind
3. Set QNH to noted value
4. Go to performance page on MCDU
a. Go to approach page (APPR) by using right arrow key
b. Insert ATIS temperature (TEMP), QNH, and wind (direction and speed, MAG WIND)
c. Insert MDA value from an airport chart from the ILS page, CAT1 minima (minimum
altitude on the approach where there is a visual on the runway)
5. Turn on ILS info display (next to flight director on Auto Pilot)
6. Set autobrakes to medium
7. Go to performance page (PERF) on MCDU and activate approach (is done automatically after
DECEL point)

10. Wait for the PFD to display the green G/S, meaning it has intercepted the glideslope
a. The aircraft will start to descend on the glideslope
11. After putting down the gear at 5 to 6 miles, arm speed brakes, turn on runway lights (lower
left corner) and set nose light to TAXI
12. Set Flaps 3 and 4
13. Remove thrust when 100 feet above the ground
