Call for Mentors

Young people are increasingly recognized as critical stakeholders for transformative climate action, whether as
negotiators, innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs, and agents of change. And yet, they lack critical technical,
financial, and political resources and support to realize their aspirations.

In response, the Government of Italy and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with a
range of knowledge partners and youth constituencies, have set out to identify, support and scale youth-led climate
breakthroughs through the global Youth4Climate initiative.

The first Youth4Climate Call for Solutions sourced 1,100+ youth-led solutions from 120+ countries. In 2023, 50 teams
across 39 countries* were allocated funding of up to USD 20,000 each to implement or scale their initiatives in four
areas:

Climate Education
Food and Agriculture
Energy
Urban Sustainability

Stories about Youth4Climate awardees and their solutions will be shared here and on the Youth4Climate online
platform.

The Youth4Capacity programme, also supported by the Government of Italy and implemented by the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) seeks to build the capacity of young people to act on climate
change. With a shared goal of leveraging resources, tools, capacities, networks, solutions and movements by and for
youth, Youth4Climate and Youth4Capacity are joining forces to develop a mentorship programme to empower
Youth4Climate awardees in bringing their climate solutions to life while actively engaging and mobilizing their
communities.

To equip the awarded teams with the skills and connections needed to scale and sustain their initiatives,
Youth4Climate and Youth4Capacity are seeking to establish a diverse pool of mentors in the climate space
(entrepreneurs, private sector representatives, academics, project managers or coordinators, scientists etc.) to
share their experience and expertise on different aspects of project implementation (e.g. goal-setting and planning,
fundraising, partnership development, communication) in the form of one-to-one mentorship.
Becoming a Mentor
Application deadline: April 2 @ 12PM CET (Central European Time )

What's in it for me?: Mentors are asked to offer their support pro bono. Mentorship is a two-way learning process:
becoming a mentor will allow you to connect with exceptional individuals and teams leading the charge on climate
action in their communities. Mentors who provide at least 10 hours of mentorship will be provided a certificate of
recognition of their support and their contributions (or those of their organization) may be spotlighted on
