1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is to serve as guidelines for CONTRACTOR to carry out Surface
Preparation, Painting Application Work for Vapor Abrasive Blasting by using IBIX 9 H2O Sysytem
AIF Project For PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd.

2.0 SCOPE

This procedure covers the methods, equipment, and materials to be used for performing surface
preparation and painting for deck floor, secondary structure, and pipe work support, etc. This the
procedure is used as supplementary guide & reference. Should any discrepancy be found between
this procedure & COMPANY PTS or CSP shall take precedence.

5.0 EQUIPMENT

The equipment shall be regularly checked, inspected, and maintained in good order prior
to commencement of work. This is to ensure that this equipment is effective and in safe
operating condition. The inspection includes but is not limited to the following items.

5.1 Wet Blasting Equipment

5.1.1 Wet Abrasive Blasting Equipment Ibix 9 H2O

5.1.2 Air blasting hose

5.1.4 Air Compressor (370 cfm)

5.1.9 Full Face Mask

5.1.10 3M Respirator Half Mask

5.1.11 Water Tank

5.2 Wet Abrasive Blast Cleaning

5.2.1 Wet-abrasive blasting is surface preparation by means of water, compressed air,

and abrasive, with the water being either a propellant for the abrasive material or
used for dust suppression. This type of surface preparation provides both
cleanliness and profile in one go. The fresh water supplied by the client shall be
free from salt contamination. In all events a potable water wash-down after wet
abrasive blasting is recommended to ensure removal of abrasive, dust, dirt, and
salts.

5.1.1.2 All loose rust, trough welds, burrs, indentation & sharp edges shall be ground
smooth prior to surface preparation.

5.1.1.3 Ensured all surfaces are dry, free of oil and grease prior to blasting. Any traces of
oil and grease shall be removed with an approved degreaser followed by
freshwater wash to clean off the emulsified residue.

5.1.1.4 Prior to blasting operation, equipment, valve, tubing & open-end pipe, electrical
panel, and cables shall be protected from ingress of blasting grits. Intended blast
areas shall be adequately barricaded off to any unauthorized entry of personnel.
All operators must be adequately protected with personnel safety and
protection equipment. All safety procedures shall be adhered to while blasting is
carried out.

5..1.5 Surface profile shall be abrasive blast cleaned shall be as per PTS 15.20.03 the
peak to valley height shall be less than or equal to 50 microns.
5
5.1.1.6 Upon complete blasting freshwater cleaning & air blow need to be carried out
prior painting activities carried out.

5.1.1.7 Any traces of oil or grease contamination on blasted surface shall be solvent
cleaned as per SSPC-SP1 prior to paint application.

5.1.1.8 Coating should be applied immediately after blasting completion.
