Researching websites Ior Medical Terminology was not too diIIicult to do.

What was a
little diIIicult was Iinding websites that helped the most. Many websites would only give a
medical dictionary. The three I Iound stood out among the rest.
One oI the websites I researched was msjensen.cehd.umn.edu. This website is a branch oI
University oI Montana`s main website. When you Iirst type in the address, it will pop you up at a
site that does more than medical terminology. It is a helpIul site Ior many anatomy and
physiology activities, but they have a whole section Ior medical terminology. When clicking on
to that section, you will Iind the deIinition oI medical terminology and why to use it. Along with
that, you will also Iind lists oI commonly used preIixes, root words, and suIIixes. This website
gives many activities to test you on deIinitions. On preIixes alone, there are 17 sets oI multiple
choice questions where you guess the word that goes with the deIinition. Also, there are suIIix
and root word quizzes as well. AIter you do the activities, there is a master list with most oI the
words on the quizzes along with their deIinitions. Although this website is lacking on the Iun
pictures, it is a good source Ior memorization.
The second oI the websites is www.nlm.nih.gov/medicineplus/medicalword.html. This
site is straight Iorward Irom the get go. You have two options. There is a medical dictionary
search or an interactive video. Both are very easy to use and ultimately useIul. The most useIul
resource is the video though. It gives an introduction to medical terminology, how to break
words up, preIixes, suIIixes, root words, quizzes, abbreviations, and more websites. In the
quizzes Irom the video, it will show you sections oI words and leave out a missing piece.
Whether it is the root word, preIix, or suIIix, you must Iind the right one Ior the right deIinition.
When the given answer is correct, a satisIying 'Good Work will pop up on the screen making
you Ieel accomplished. Throughout the step by step lesson, a women`s voice reads along with
you. This sometimes helps certain people who learn better by listening to other people. With the
visual aids, the great interaction, good inIormation, and the overall satisIaction when using this
site, I would recommend it in a heartbeat.
My Iavorite website came Irom ec.hku.hk/mt/. The website is broken up into eight
diIIerent sections: preIixes, suIIixes, root words, a master list oI medical words, quizzes,
pronunciation, glossary search engine, and a list oI more semi-helpIul websites. The reason I like
this website the most is because oI the pictures they give when learning the preIixes, suIIixes,
and root words. For example, in the section root words, there is a subsection to learn the mouth.

There is a picture oI a Iace sliced in halI to make it easier to see the diIIerent pieces oI the mouth.
Then oII to the right oI it, there is a multiple question quiz. When you`re done, the computer will
tell you iI you were right or wrong. The visual aids really help me memorize the numerous
medical terms. Also, there is a whole section dedicated to quizzes. That section has over 50
quizzes and they are separated into diIIerent categories. The questions are multiple choice and iI
you get one right you get a smiley Iace! Another attribute to this website is the pronunciation
section. You can listen to about 300 sound Iiles oI medical terms that help you to improve your
pronunciation. The nice thing about the medical dictionary on this site is the Iact you can click a
button to hear someone say the word. That also helps with your pronunciation. The section Ior
extra websites wasn`t as helpIul, but it is hard to live up to this website. This website had
everything anyone would need to study; it is easy to navigate through, very inIormative, well
illustrated, and has sound clips. No mater your learning style, this website can help you out. Out
oI all the websites, this one was my Iavorite to use and I will mostly likely use it again.
