DESIGN CHALLENGE

To challenge the ingenuity of students to make a unique design that shall embody the institution’s
ideals, values, and philosophy. The project should create an innovative and sustainable development
as an integral part of its design consideration.

INTRODUCTION

Background: The National University

In the last quarter of year 2008, the SM Group of Companies acquired majority ownership of the
National University. The all-out support of the SM Group strengthened the university as higher
institution with the building of new infrastructure, improved and upgraded laboratory all of which are
focused on academic excellence.

Today, the University is engaged in a continuous modernization and upgrading program for its
facilities, faculty, and sports development.

National University Expansion Plan

As part of National University’s expansion plan to open more campuses in the Philippines, NU has
decided to venture into Kinder to Grade 12 schooling – similar with what NU Nazareth has to offer.
But for this particular project, the school will aim to attract potential students from the upper class.
Hence, facilities will be on par with well-known reputable schools and international schools in the
Philippines.
