Questions

1. A bag of flour has a mass of 4.5 kilograms. How many grams are in 4.5 kilograms?

To convert from kilograms to grams you will multiply by 1000

4.5 × 1000 = 4500 grams

2. Jill has 15 feet of ribbon. How many yards of ribbon does she have?

To convert from feet to yards you will divide by 3

15 ÷ 3 = 5 yards

3. Convert the units:

A) 40 yards = ----120---------------------- feet. (Multiply by 3)

To convert from feet to meters multiply by 0.305

B) 6 feet = --------1.83 ---------------

meters.

To convert from quarts to gallons divide by 4

C) 20 quarts = ---------5------------ gallons.

4. Scott is 72 inches tall, and Chris is 185 centimeters tall. Who is taller? Show your

work.

5. There are 4 quarters in $1.00.

A. Make a table of values to represent this relationship.

B. Is this a proportional relationship? If so, identify k and explain what it represents. If

not, explain why not.

6. Is the relationship in the table proportional? If it is, write its equation.

7. The equation y = 8x gives the number of slices y in x pizzas. Complete the table of
values using the equation. Identify the constant of proportionality.

8. Tell whether each table represents a proportional relationship. If it does, identify the constant of
proportionality.
