Gielow, Ofc. Scanlon and | (Ofc, Andrews) were dispatched to for an unattended death. Dispatch advised us that, found her Imother, Shawn Maxwell, not breathing in the apartment. Upon our arrival, WRFD, Sgt. Himmelspach and Ofc. Scanion were already on scene. WRFD jadvised us that Dr. Alexander from McLaren Oakland pronounced Shawn's time of death at 4801HRS. lOfc. Officers also found court documents that appeared to be There were also multiple notes that Shawn wrote to Judge Smalls that she started but did not finish [The court documents were from Keego Harbor. The documents addressed the incident that loccurred on 06/06/2021 in Keego Harbor. Shawn also had I searched CLEMIS and could not find a recent assault report that linvolved Shawn was outside speaking with WRFD when we went to speak with her. said that Ishe came to the apartment to visit Shawn. found her mother in the bedroom at 1735HRS land then called 911. said that the last time she texted her mom was on 09/02/2021 at 12235HRS. The last time the two were together was 08/29/2021 at 1000 HRS, when had jan appointment at the urgent care. When asked if Shawn was on any medication said Shawn was and her grandmother, Denise Fryer (Next of Kin), stated Ithat they found the glass door unlocked in the back of the apartment, which was uncommon for [Shawn to leave open. Investigator Wood arrived on scene and documented the lscene. Shawn was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. | photographed the scene and the photos were uploaded to the G-Drive up by Sgt. Francis. Five lorange pill bottles, one white pill bottle, three suicide notes and a cell phone were collected as levidence. The pills and notes were placed in Bin 23. Dispatch advised us that IWRFD was on scene and had confirmed that the victim, Shawn Maxwell, was deceased prior to. lour arrival. I arrived on scene shortly before Ofc. Gielow and Ofc. Andrews. | observed WRFD personnel lattempting to determine what prescription medication the deceased had taken. | observed the ldeceased in her bed in the main bedroom. She had a crusty foamy fluid emanating from her Imouth. Ofc. Gielow and Ofc. Andrews arrived on scene then and took over the investigation. || spoke to the mother of the deceased, Denise Fryer, about an incident that occurred in August. [She told me she didn’t know the specific date it occurred. According to Fryer, Maxwell was allegedly assaulted by four people in Keego Harbor and it was likely that Maxwell did not report it Io the police. | observed that there was an On the summary, it |showed Ofc. The message with SE at the top was sent after Shawn allegedly took the large lamount of prescription pills to kill herself, | also added Vincent Shina, Kelli Maki and Shelly Lang Ito the persons tab. 10/13/2021 | have been unsuccessful in meeting with Kelli Maki regarding the text messages. | called the number listed for Vincent Shina and it has been disconnected 10/19/2021 | have tried to meet up with Shawn's friend, Kelli Maki, multiple times to discuss Ithis report and she has been uncooperative. She either doesn't answer her door or phone when I reach out to her. | finally found a good phone number for Shina and | spoke with him via phone. He stated that he really did not want to talk about the matter but, he did state that he was lintimate a few times with her even though he is married. He wanted to talk over the phone rather Ithan in person as he was driving to work and he stated that it would be easier. |Shina stated that he did send her some text messages before her death but, he doesn't remember what they said exactly. | read some of the messages to him and he continued to say |that he didn't really want to talk about it. | asked him if his wife knew about the two of them being intimate and he replied "sort of". | asked him if his wife would have sent the text messages to |Shawn or if she has ever text Shawn using his phone and he replied "no" I sent the report to the OCPO seeking a warrant for Manslaughter.
