IV. PROCEDURES

Step 1: First, we gathered all materials needed for the circuit, placing them on the armchair and
assembling the circuit there.

Step 2: We picked the breadboard, because this where we connected all the wires and devices. Then
we picked up the first device, which was the SDSSD, then we placed it and inserted it tightly at the
ravine of the breadboard, 13 ports away from the right side most of the breadboard

Step 3: Then we picked up another device, which is the CD 4026 Counter I.C. and inserted it tightly 5
breadboard ports away from the left side of the SDSSD. The cleft (this was the indicator of the I.C.
that the pin #1 & #16 is on the left side) was faced on the left side and also, we positioned it at the
center of the ravine of the breadboard.

Step 4: Then we picked up the LED and inserted it tightly to the 3 breadboard ports away from the
left side of the CD 4026 Counter I.C. and we positioned it to the center at the ravine of the
breadboard, but first we determined the anode and cathode part of the LED. The Anode terminal or
the longer pin of the LED was inserted to the same side where the reset pin or pin (#15) of the CD
4026 Counter I.C. was located. While, the cathode terminal or the shorter pin was inserted to the
same side, where the clock input terminal or the pin (#1) of the CD 4026 Counter I.C. was located.

Step 5: Then we picked up the pushed button switch or a reset button switch that has a single-pole
and single throw. We inserted it tightly to the 4 breadboard ports away from the left side of the
terminals of the LED and we positioned it to the center at the ravine of the breadboard.

Step 6: Then we picked up another LED and inserted it tightly to the 4 breadboard ports away from
the left side of the terminals of a switch and also, we positioned it at the center of the ravine of the
breadboard. But we inserted the second LED opposite to the first LED. The Anode terminal or the
longer pin of the LED was inserted to the same side, wherein the clock-input pin or pin (#1) of the CD
4026 Counter I.C. was located. While, the cathode terminal or the shorter pin was inserted to the
same side, wherein the reset pin or the pin (#15) of the CD 4026 Counter I.C. was located.

Step 7: Then we picked up the 555 Timer I.C. and inserted it tightly to the 9 breadboard ports away
from the left side of the terminals of the second LED. We make sure that cleft (this was the sign of
the I.C. that the pin #1 & #8 is on the left side) of the 555 Timer I.C. was facing on the left side. And
also, we positioned it at the center of the ravine of the breadboard.

Step 8: Then we sorted all the jumper wires by their sizes (from smallest to longest). First, we picked
up a small jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of the small jumper wire align to the pin (#1) of
the 555 Timer I.C., and we connected the other terminal to the negative line of the bottom power
rail. We did the same thing to the other pin (gnd) or (pin #2 & #8 of the CD 4026 Counter I.C.) we
connected it to the negative terminal of the bottom power rail using small jumper wires.

Step 9: Then we picked up another 4 small jumper wires. We inserted the one terminal of each 4
small jumper wires, align from the VCC pins or pin (#4 & #8) of the 555 Timer I.C. and the pin (#3 &
#16) of the CD 4026 Counter I.C. and we connected the other terminal of each 4 small jumper wires
to the nearest positive terminal of the power rails.
Step 10: Then we picked up another small jumper wire. We connected the terminal of the small
jumper wire, align from the input terminal of the switch and the other terminal was connected to the
bottom positive line of the bottom power rail.

Step 11: Then we connected the terminal of another small jumper wires align from the cathode or
the negative pin of the first LED and another terminal of the small jumper wire was connected to the
negative line of the bottom power rail.

Step 12: Then we picked up one resistor that have a value of 10k ohms. We inserted one terminal of
the 10k ohms resistor to the top positive line of the top power rail and the other terminal of it was
connected to the nearest port (j) or terminal strips and also 1 breadboard port away from the
terminal of 555 Timer I.C.. Then we grabbed another resistor that have a value of 100k. We inserted
one terminal of the 100k ohms resistor align from the terminal of the 10k ohms resistor with 3
breadboard ports away (like series). And we connected the other terminal of the 100k resistor to the
other side and still align from the terminal strips (straight line).

Step 13: Then we picked up the capacitor that have a value of 4.7 micro-farad and we inserted the
positive pin (that has no sign or longer pin) align from the terminal of the 100k ohms resistor with 4
breadboard ports away (these vacant ports was intended for other connection). And we connected
the other pin or the negative pin (that has a white sign or shorter pin) to the negative line of the
bottom power rails.

Step 14: Then we grabbed a small jumper wire. We inserted one terminal of it, align from the pin
(#7) of the 555 Timer I.C. and we inserted the other terminal of it, align between the terminal of the
10k ohms resistor and the terminal of the 100k ohms resistor.

Step 15: Then we grabbed another small jumper wire. We inserted one terminal of it, align from the
pin (#2) of the 555 Timer I.C. And we inserted the other terminal of it, align between the terminal of
the 100k ohms resistor, and the terminal of the 4.7 microfarad capacitor.

Step 16: Then we picked up a long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from the pin
(#6) of the 555 Timer I.C. And we inserted the other terminal of it, align between the 100k ohms
resistor and 4.7 microfarad capacitor.

Step 17: Then we picked another long jumper wire. We connected the one terminal of it, align to the
pin (#3) of the 555 Timer I.C. And we connected the other terminal of it, align to the pin (#1) or the
clock-input of the CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 18: Then we picked another long jumper wire. We inserted the one terminal align from the pin
(#1) or clock-input of the CD 4026 Counter I.C. and we inserted the other terminal align from the
anode or the positive pin of the LED. (longer pin)

Step 19: Then we picked up the two resistors that have a value of 220ohms. We connected the one
terminal of first resistor align from the cathode or the negative pin of the second LED (shorter pin).
And we connected the other terminal of it to the positive line of the top power rail. Then we
connected the one terminal of second resistor align from the anode or positive pin of the first LED
(shorter pin) and we connected the other terminal of the second resistor align from the terminal of
the reset button switch that was located to the same side wherein the pin (#16) of the CD 4026
Counter I.C. located.
Step 20: Then we picked up another long jumper wire. We inserted one terminal of it, align from the
reset pin or the pin (#15) of the CD 4026 Counter I.C. and we inserted the other terminal of it, align
from the terminal of the resistor and also align to the terminal output of the reset button switch.

Step 21: Then we picked up a long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from the
pin-e or the pin (#1) of the SDSSD and we inserted the other terminal align from the pin (#11) of the
CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 22: Then we picked up another long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from
the pin-d or the pin (#2) of the SDSSD and we inserted the other terminal align from the pin (#9) of
the CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 23: Then we picked up another long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from
the pin-c or the pin (#4) of the SDSSD and we inserted the other terminal align from the pin (#13) of
the CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 24: Then we picked up another long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from
the pin-b or the pin (#6) of the SDSSD and we inserted the other terminal align from the pin (#12) of
the CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 25: Then we picked up another long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from
the pin-a or the pin (#7) of the SDSSD and we inserted the other terminal align from the pin (#10) of
the CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 26: Then we picked up another long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from
the pin-f or the pin (#9) of the SDSSD and we inserted the other terminal align from the pin (#6) of
the CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 27: Then we picked up another long jumper wire and inserted the one terminal of it, align from
the pin-g or the pin (#10) of the SDSSD and we inserted the other terminal align from the pin (#7) of
the CD 4026 Counter I.C.

Step 28: Then we picked up a resistor that have a value of 500 ohms. We inserted the one terminal
of it align from the pin (#8) or the common cathode (C.C.) of the SDSSD, while we inserted the other
terminal of the resistor to the negative line of the top power rail.

Step 29: Then we picked another resistor that have a value of 100 ohms. We inserted the one
terminal of the resistor align from the pin (#5) or the decimal point (dp) of the SDSSD, while we
inserted the other terminal of the resistor to the positive line of the bottom power rail.

Step 30: We had 6 small jumper wires used to connect the top power rail and the bottom power rail.
First, we inserted one terminal of the one small jumper wire (1) to the positive line of the top power
rail in the right side most corner of the breadboard and inserted the other terminal to the nearest
port or port(j) from the top power rail. Same thing, we inserted the one terminal of another small
jumper wire (2) to the negative line of the top power rail in the right side most corner of the
breadboard and we inserted the other terminal to the port (j) but in the next terminal strips.

Step 31: Then we picked the small jumper wire (3) and inserted the one terminal of it to the port (f)
and align from terminal strips wherein the positive line of the top power rail was connected, and the
other terminal was connected to the port (e). Same thing to the other small jumper wire (4), we
inserted one terminal of it to the port (f) to the next terminal strips or wherein the negative line of
the top power rail was connected, and the other terminal was connected to the next terminal strips
of the port (e).
Step 32: Then we picked the small jumper wire (5) and inserted the one terminal of it to the port (a)
and align from the connection or the terminal strips wherein the positive line was connected and we
inserted the other terminal to the positive line of the bottom power rail. Same thing, we inserted the
one terminal of another small jumper wire (6) to the next terminal strips of port (a) and we inserted
the other terminal to the positive line of the bottom power rail.

Step 33: Then we picked the small jumper wire (5) and inserted one of its terminals to the port (a)
and align from the connection or the terminal strips wherein the positive line was connected and we
inserted the other terminal to the positive line of the bottom power rail. Same thing, we inserted
one terminal with another small jumper wire (6) to the next terminal strips of port (a) and we
inserted the other terminal to the positive line of the bottom power rail.

(The vacant ports that was align to the connection of the top and bottom power rails was intended
wherein the source or 5V DC adaptor power source will insert or plug.)

Step 34: But before we inserted the 5V DC adaptor power source, we recheck all the connection
were properly and tightly connected.

Step 35: The last step was to connect the 5V adaptor power source, we made sure that the polarity
or the terminal was connected properly to the terminal strips wherein the positive line of the top
power rail and the negative line of the bottom power rail was connected.
