Presidents Periodical
Hey Penguins! Happy New Year! I hope all your breaks were wonderful and full of service. While the year has ended, we have still a little less than a half a Key Club year left. As a recap since April 2011, we have come together to do the following feats: 1524.6 hours of service 104 members who are actively attending projects 100 paid members $129 in donations to pediatric trauma prevention A very successful November DCM that allowed us to donate 13 blankets, 59 care packages, and 116 cards Firstly, thank you to all you penguins who have been so active. Secondly, to those who havent been very active, it isnt too late to start. The world doesnt stop because it is 2012 despite the Mayans calendar fluke and that means that there is still service to be done and solutions to be a part of. We have exciting service projects for the future including a project focused on learning about hunger and how we can help. Also the January DCM is coming up and our own Alex Siegel, who is scrapbook chair with Lisa Zhang, will represent Fremont in the Mr. Key Club Pageant. Come out on Saturday January 28th from5-9:30 pm at Palo Alto High Schools Haymarket Theatre to support him! We will continue to do service and hopefully reach our goal of 2500 hours by the end of April as well as raise funds for 3 charities and to subsidize the cost of DCON for attendees. KEY CLUB Fremont Key Newsletter 2500 hours by the end of April as well as raise funds for charities and to subsidize the cost of DCON for attendees. Keep in mind that if you would like to take a bigger role in Key Club and really begin to understand the leadership portion of the club, we will be holding elections and interviews in the coming months. Dont be spooked by the formality of the process, and we encourage everyone who is interested to apply for a position. Be sure to attend meetings and go to projects so that you can be well informed of all Key Club business. We are the Cali-Nev-Ha bees, so bee excited to experience the magic of service throughout 2012 from the projects we do to District Convention in April to train leaders in service. Stay cool, Penguins! Waddling in Service, Melissa FHS Key Club 2011-2012 President

Hey Key Clubbers! Although it's only the beginning of the calendar year, we are quickly approaching the end of the Key Club year. With all this talk about elections, it's only fitting that our club also prepare to elect a new set of leaders for the 2012-2013 year. Soon, you will be electing the next president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, or perhaps running for one of these positions! If you would like to increase your involvement in Key Club and continue the great leadership of this year's board, please talk to the current officers about their responsibilities. Being a part of the Key Club board provides a unique learning opportunity, so in addition to helping our community in a greater way, you can also pursue your interests and grow your skills. You might also consider running for divisional or district office (this year or down the road). At the regional Conclave on February 11th, Division 34 South clubs will elect a new lieutenant governor to lead the Penguins. The lieutenant governor is like a president for our group of local Key Clubs, and is also a part of the Cal-Nev-Ha District Board. If you are interested in running for office, please talk to members of the current board or your advisors. We would love to have YOU help lead the club (or division) in the coming year!
