CHAPTER III
This chapter outlines the research methodology used to assess the
effectiveness of motorcycle patrols on crime prevention in Project 6, Quezon City. It
discusses the research design, sampling methods, data collection, and statistical
treatment used to achieve the study's objectives.
Research Design
A quantitative research design will be employed, using a descriptive survey
method. Descriptive research involves observing and reporting on crime trends
without intervening. The study will use purposive sampling to select participants,
including police personnel, community members, and local residents, to describe
the impact of motorcycle patrols on crime prevention in Project 6, Quezon City.
Research Respondents
The respondents of this study will be divided into three groups: twenty (20)
assigned personnel of the local police station in Project 6, fifteen (15) followers of the
police station's official Facebook page, and fifteen (15) residents of Project 6, Quezon City.

the
Population and Sampling
The population includes police officers from the local police station in Project
6 and residents of the area. Purposive sampling will be used to select participants
based on their relevance to the study. Data will be gathered via surveys, and
frequency and percentages will be used for data interpretation.
Research Environment
The research will be conducted within the Project 6 area of Quezon City. The
study will be carried out during the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic
year.
Research Instrumentation
The primary data collection tool will be a survey questionnaire. It will include
questions about respondents' perceptions of the effectiveness of motorcycle patrols
on crime prevention, along with demographic data. The questionnaire will be
validated by faculty members and pilot-tested with a small sample before final
distribution.
Validation of Instrument
The questionnaire will be validated by faculty members and finalized by the
researchers. It will then be distributed to 50 participants in paper form. A pilot test
will be conducted prior to the main survey to refine the questions and ensure
clarity.
Research Procedure
2
The research procedure will begin with identifying the research objectives
to distribution to the respondents to determine if there is difficulty understanding
and
the gathering relevant data. A questionnaire will be crafted and validated, followed
by data collection through surveys. The collected data will be analyzed and
interpreted to provide insights into the effectiveness of motorcycle patrols in crime
prevention.
Data Gathering Techniques
The Data will be collected through surveys, personal interviews, and focus
group discussions with the selected respondents. The survey questionnaire will be
distributed, and the collected data will be consolidated and analyzed.
Statistical Treatment
The Data will be analyzed using the following statistical methods:
Frequency distribution to organize and present the data.
Weighted Mean to assess the effectiveness of motorcycle patrols in crime
prevention.

● Analysis Variance (ANOVA) which were used based on SOP No. 1 and
SOP No. 3
It is a statistical formula used to compare variances across the means of
different groups to determine if there is a significant difference in the assessment of
the effectiveness of motorcycle patrols on crime prevention in Project 6, Quezon
City.
