DEBATE RULES AND REGULATIONS
Teams: There are three teams, each teams is consist of three speakers.
Speeches: Each team has three constructive speeches and three rebuttal speeches. The
affirmative team gives the first constructive speech, and rebuttals alternate between the
affirmative and negative teams.
Evidence: Speakers must be able to provide evidence or reasons to support their
statements.
Facts: Facts presented in a debate must be accurate.
New points: Speakers cannot bring up new points in a rebuttal speech.
Questioning: Each speaker is questioned after their constructive speech. Questioners can
ask any fair, clear question that is relevant to the debate.
Judge: The judge's decision must be based solely on the material presented in the
debate.
Etiquette: Treat your opponent with respect, and be well prepared on your subject.
Some other tips for debating include:
Focus on ideas and topics, not people.
Come to the debate prepared.
Disagree respectfully.
Listen actively.
Avoid dismissing emotions.
Time limit will strictly be implemented.
No using of bad/ rude/ foul words.
No using of bible verses/ religion related statement.
No dropping/ mentioning names during debate.
No inappropriate gestures are allowed.
Avoid using of notes.
Be on time.
