February 17, 2012 Original Art Work Pieces

Original Art Work pieces are due back to school next Tuesday. Even if you do not intend to order the artwork, please return it to school. The children worked so hard on those pieces and I would love to display them for others to see. I will return them to you at the end of the year!

The Book Fair is Coming!!!

We need YOU! Many hands are needed for a successful book fair and we are still in need of volunteers! The book fair will take place Monday, February 27 - Monday, March 5. ***If you have not returned your childs January journal, please do so next week so that it can be added to their big journal notebook. In just a couple of weeks it will be time to send home February journals!

In math we have been doing some really cool and advanced thinking with numbers. Your children continue to amaze me every day when they grasp the concepts that I introduce them to. Just for fun this week we started talking about odd and even numbers because it was mentioned in a book we read. So many of the children picked up on this complex concept. They truly understand it and not just figure it out in the pattern! WOW! Another concept we are working on that you can practice at home is reading the number words zero through ten and matching them to the correct numeral. We just started focusing on this yesterday and several are doing really well. The number words one through five are highlighted this 9 weeks as Kindergarten checklist sight words.

Class Pictures
Everyone is bringing home a class picture today. We were so lucky to have everyone present the day of the picture! The pictures make great keepsakes, especially if you did not order a yearbook. The class picture costs $10.00. Please return the picture or send $10.00 to school by next Friday. Checks can be made out to Bill Miller Photography. Thank you in advance for handling this promptly. Thank you to everyone that sent in goodies and Valentine cards to share with class. We had so many goodies that we are still celebrating! We had some tasty heart cookies at the end of the day today! Thanks again for your part in making school extra fun and special for your children! If you were able to attend the PTA meeting this week you definitely saw an entertaining performance by the purple pod children! Thank you for supporting our school and your childs music education!
