Theme Presentation Contest At National Conference on Governance

Gujarat NRE National Integrity Theme Presentation Contest has now become an annual affair. This is being organised along with National Conference on Governance as a part of Global Steel 2012 initiat ive. Trust is a valuable social asset that forms the basis of democracy. Trust demands respect for the inherent value and rights of a human being. It is true that while taxes are the price we pay for civiisation- civiisation cannot sustain itse]f without trust. sation Distrust kills transparency, creates divide and fuels manoeuvring to suit ones motive. if a government distrusts its people, people are likely to reciprocate by distrusting the system. Reciprocity and cooperation increase in a trust based regime where people trust that others will indeed reciprocate.

The company had organised an open day at its NRE No. imineatRusseilVale, NSWAustralia, on October 1 0,to showcase its state-of-the-art longwall machinery where guests invited from a cross seetion of the society had a look at one of the worlds most sophisticated mining equipment. The unveiling was significant for a number of reasons as it hera lds a new erafor Gujarat NRE , the only Indian coking coal mining company in Australia, as it literally ploughs head-on into its expansion plans of producing 6 million tonnes of cokingcoalfrom its two mines. The eventalsoportrayedthe hnmensepopularity of Gujarat NRE in Australia and the respect it carries in the local comnumity which was evident from thewhoswho in the attendancelist, which includes notedpoliticians, local community leaders andwell wishers. More than 300 guests comprising of the company s investors, bamkers, community

representatives, vendors, customers were witness to a real-life simulation of one of the most modern longwall systt ms. e In the words of Arun Kumar Jagatramka, Executive Chairman, Gujarat NRE Coking Coal Ltd the open day is being held to proudly announce thecommissioning andre-inlroduction of longwall miningatNEE No. lfromDecember 2oll as sched-

uled. This onlyreiterates ourcommitmentof long term growth as well as our ability to execute the plans into actionswithin the set time frame. The new longwall equipment which is ready to go underground includesashearer, 82 powered roof supports, coal clearance system, electrical substation , pump station and retractable mono-rail, whichwfflmaximiseproductivityatthe mine. The newequipment willhiavethecapacityto shear, load andtransport 3,500tonnesof coking coal per hour. The longwall system purchasedfromthe global miningmanufacturer, JoyMiningMachiner will have an initialface length of 145 metres, although there isan option thatwouldaflow it to be extended to up to 390 metres within five years. Joy will also refurbish and upgrade the existing longwall systern at the second mine of the company, NRE Wongawilli, during 2013. Addressing the gathering, Jagatramka said , Crossing milestones has almost become a habit for Guja rat NRE as we set new targets and achieve them only to raisethebar of the next goal. By 2015 we anticipate we will be one of Australias largest producers of prime-quality hard-coking coal, addedMrArunKumar Jagatramka .
