Good evening to principal

ma'am, all parents and all the

children present over here.

Today, we will be talking about

happy parenting.

Parenting is no easy task. Some

say that it is a full-time job in
itself. There is no guidebook as
such that can prepare and guide
a person for parenting. So today
I have gathered here the A-Zs of
parenting that we can all try to
remember to guide you through
the this difficult yet beautiful
journey.
A - Every child is different. Each
child has his/her own limitations
and capabilities. They all need
your love and support and
there is no greater gift for a child
than a parent accepting them for
who they are.

B- As a parent you are the first

and the biggest role model for
your child. They learn the things
they see you doing and that is a
great responsibility. That is
something that all parents need
to always remember. So the next
time you are about to yell at your
child in anger. Pause and try to
ask yourself "Is this how you
want your child to react when
they are feeling angry?".
C - They might be younger to us
but they are individuals who
deserve to be treated with
respect so we need to treat them
and talk to them with utmost
respect and
kindness.

D - Disciplining your child is a

very important aspect of
parenting but disciplining isnt
simply scolding your kid. When
they do something wrong, we
can guide them gently and nudge
them in the right direction as
well.

E - It is very important to
encourage your children. When
the children see that you as
parents believe in their potential
then slowly their self-confidence
in their own abilities will also
increase.
F - There are some things you
can do to connect with your child.
It doesn't have to be something
big. It can be something so
simple as playing with them,
going out on a walk with them,
going out to get groceries
together.

G - To encourage a sense of
responsibility in your child you
can again give them small tasks
for eg: doing some chores
around the house, helping you to
clean the house, etc.
H - It is a very important
responsibility of a parent to
protect their child and to make
them child feel safe and secure.
Because it is only when a child
feels safe that they would start to
explore, try new things. This
is when learning becomes
possible.

I - Parents can start teaching

students the importance of
respecting your parents,
teachers and the people around
you at home itself.

J - To keep a track of your child's

performance in school, their
progress, their behaviour it is
important fot parents to attend
Parent teacher meetings
regularly.
K - When it comes to raising
thoughtful kids this is one of the
most important things we can do.
Children model their parents so
parents are the first people who
can teach children the
importance of respect and how to
treat other people with
respect.

L - Spend as much time as you

can with your children, sit with
them, ,connect with them, laugh
with them.

M - it is very important to make

some rules as a family and it is
equally important to keep
enforcing them because these
family rules help a child
understand what behaviour is
okay and what behaviour is not
okay.

For eg: the child can go out to

play only after they have finished
the homework, all the family
members will have dinner
together, etc.

N - Never use physical force on

your child.
"chidren don't need pain to
learn". It is not effective and can
have a long-term negative impact
on the child.

O - Offer to help your child

whenever you can. If they have a
doubt regarding their schoolwork
sit down with them, teach them.
If they are struggling with a task,
offer your help. This will give
them a sense of security and a
feeling that they are supported.

P - Praise your child at any every

opportunity you get. Catch your
child being good. Praise them
not just for their achievements
but also for their efforts. When
you appreciate their efforts they
get the idea that they are moving
forward in the right direction.
Q- Don't let a conflict go on for
too long. Sit down with your
child, listen to them and try to
resolve it as soon as possible.

R- Whenever it is possible sit

down with your child to read. Not
just books that are a part of their
academics but also story books,
poetry. This will encourage a love
of reading books in children.
S -There will be times where
even after you have warned your
child not to do something
multiple times, they will still
disobey you simply because they
are children. Try not to take it
personally. So
we must expect challanges like
these and try to resolve them
calmly.

T - Teach your child some basic

safety rules. For eg: make sure
they remember few emergency
contacts, what to do in a strange
situation when parents or a
trusted adult is not around.

U - Don't lose any opportunity to

show your child affection. There
is nothing more that they will
value than your affection.

V - When you listen to your

children, you are giving them
your time, you are giving them
your ear to hear what they have
to say. Start by asking about
their day at school, ask them
about their friends, etc. This can
make the child feel valued and
help build their self-confidence.
W - its natural to feel angry when
your child doesnt listen to you
but it is important that we take a
deep breath, calm ourselves
down before we try to speak to
them because it is possible that it
anger we might say something
that we will regret later.

X - There is no guidebook for

parenting. Every child is unique
and so is every parent. In this
journey, challanges are common
so we must expect them and
embrace them.
Y - Always do remeber that you
are capable of having the most
impact on your child's life.
Z - that's it. Lastly, I would just
request you all to try to
remember these points when you
feel angry at your child or stuck.
