Problem Statement
The problem being analyzed is the length of turnout time from getting the call from dispatch to driving out the front door.

Goals
Minimize turnout time

Improve responsiveness of firefighters

Increase efficiency Improve safety

Initial Problem Analysis

Interviews with the Firefighters Informative Fish Bone Diagram Analyze possible causes for delay received from interviews

Interview Data
Probable location Dorms Kitchen/Dining Room Living Room Apparatus Room Weight Room Office Use for new layout

Direct routes to apparatus room

Private bed areas

Greenhouse/sun room on roof Station is set up for old equipment Same layout for all stations

Problem Source

Initial Conclusions
Layout of the fire station in regards to the apparatus

room is an issue to be addressed

Doors and other obstacles are also areas to look into to

decrease turnout times

Equipment location is a possible contributor to delay
Apparatus room lighting

Data Collection
Floor plan of building Tools- Tape measure, laptop, notebooks, camera Time Trials From common locations to specific destinations in apparatus room Tools- Stopwatch, video camera

Data Collected
