Subject: Implementation of Solid Waste and No Single-Use Plastic Policy in Accordance with City
Ordinance No. 2021-023

In compliance with City Ordinance No. 2021-023 issued by the City of Cabadbaran and in line with Caraga
State University Cabadbaran Campus' (CSUCC) commitment to environmental sustainability, all CSUCC
employees, students, and visitors are hereby required to adhere to the Solid Waste and No Single-Use
Plastic Policy. This policy aims to promote sustainable practices and reduce plastic waste on campus.
Policy Guidelines:
1. Prohibition of Single-Use Plastics:
The use of single-use plastic bags, plastic straws, plastic stirrers, plastic utensils, cups, and other
disposable plastic products is strictly prohibited within the campus premises.
o Vendors and canteens must replace disposable plastics with eco-friendly alternatives such
as reusable containers, paper bags, and bamboo or wooden utensils.
o All students, employees, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own reusable water
bottles, containers, and utensils.
2. Ban on Polystyrene (Styrofoam):
The use of Styrofoam for food packaging or any other purpose is strictly banned on campus.
Vendors and food providers must use biodegradable or reusable packaging materials.
3. Waste Segregation and Proper Disposal:
All waste generated on campus must be properly segregated into biodegradable, non-
biodegradable, and recyclable waste categories. Appropriate bins are placed in strategic locations
around the campus for easy disposal.
4. Sustainable Events:
All events organized within the campus must promote sustainability, avoiding the use of single-use
plastics and incorporating environmentally friendly practices such as reusable materials and
decorations.
Penalties for Non-Compliance:
To ensure compliance with this policy, violations will result in the following disciplinary actions:
First Offense:
A verbal warning will be issued, reminding the individual of the policy and their responsibility to
comply.
Second Offense:
The offender’s ID will be confiscated, and they will be required to complete community service
focused on environmental awareness, coordinated by the Campus Environmental Committee.
Third Offense:
The offender will face the following actions:
o For students: They will receive a written reprimand and will be required to attend a
mandatory seminar on environmental sustainability.
o For employees: A written reprimand will be issued, and they will be required to participate in
a campus-wide environmental activity such as a waste cleanup or tree planting initiative.
o For visitors: They will be barred from entering the campus until further compliance with the
policy is assured.
Fourth Offense:
Further offenses will result in a temporary suspension of campus privileges for students, including
access to campus services and participation in extracurricular activities.
Employees will face further disciplinary actions as per university policy, subject to review by the
HR Department.
Responsibility and Call to Action:
As members of the CSUCC community, it is our collective responsibility to contribute to a cleaner and
greener campus. Compliance with this policy is essential for the well-being of our environment and future
generations. We urge everyone to actively participate in this important initiative.
