Overview:

. In the context of education, learning is a continuous process and learning

environment is one of the most important factors for effective learning to happen within
the classroom setting. The influence of the physical environment is obvious towards
learning outcomes. Rukban (2010) defined learning environment as everything that is
happening in the classroom or department, faculty, or university. Learners are constantly
interacting with the physical environment of their schools during class hours
consciously or unconsciously. Asiyai (2014) asserted that a conducive classroom
physical environment is an agent of intellectual stimulation and important factor in
strengthening the child's educational development. Prayoonwong & Nimnuan (2010)
asserted that understanding how students learn as well as their performances is by focusing on
the learning environment.

The Department of Education emphasizes it desires to promote the right of every

Filipino to quality, equitable, and culture-based, and complete basic education where
students learn in a child-friendly, gender sensitive, safe and motivating environment. It
spells out the importance of the learning environment as well as the roles of teachers,
administrators and stakeholders.

As an academic institution, Camalanda-an National High School, supports the

stated above DepEd goals, and strongly believe that if the physical learning
environment is conducive and ready for learning, the learning processes on the
learners will follow and will become more effective. In line with the physical environment
of improving the school to become a conducive place for learning, environmental
preservation and conservation is also concerned. The protection of environment is a
global issue and it is not an isolated problem of any areas or nation and to protect and
conserve the environment is one of virtues of this academic institution.

With a collaborative effort of the teaching force innovated and developed an
environmental advocacy to address the existing environmental issues on the school
ground on proper waste disposal, usage of plastics inside the school campus, water
and electricity consumption for conducive learning environment.

Eco-Go Advocacy is a collaborative environmental practices of the school to

help conserving the environment. This innovation is relevant to environmental
strategies adopted by the school in line with proper waste segregation to impose
discipline among the students, parents, teachers which has been implemented for
years.

Innovation Description:

The school has been consistently upholding and practicing environmental

preservation and conservation with the school’s advocacy “Environmental Concern: Our
Global Outcry.” All throughout the years, the school has been actively participating in
the community involvement that supports environmental activities. Community
involvement which includes adopting empty land to plant trees to restore deforestation,
utilization of recycled materials in the class as projects is also observed, usage of
plastics inside the school is prohibited and environmental culmination is also celebrated
to raise awareness that involves environmental activities.

Camalanda-an National High School bangs the following awards Seal of Good
Environmental Governance 2016 (Bronze), 2017 Seal of Good Environmental
Governance Gold Seal of Good Environmental Governance 2018, 2019 FIRST
PLATINUM..

The school’s environmental practices has evolved through the years from the
practice of proper waste segregation, down to
zero waste policy, and implementation of using eco-go bags since then Camalanda-an
National High School has been consistently implementing these environmental
advocacy and recognized as an excellent awardee for four consecutive years in Seal of
Good Environmental Governance from Bronze, Silver, Gold and recently, First
Platinum.
The “Eco-Go” is consistently implementing the following environmental
programs:
1. Requirement of wearing an Eco-Go bag - Every student, teacher, parent, and
visitor is required to wear an improvised Eco-Go bag while inside the school campus.
This improvised Eco-Go Bag is a customized two compartment sling bag which is made
of cloth. The first compartment is for biodegrable and the second is for non-
biodegradable. The school innovates this to serve as a personalized ecobag for waste
since the school is no longer using trash bins in line with the school’s advocacy “Zero
