Good personal hygiene is one of the best ways to protect ourselves from getting illnesses
most especially in this time of pandemic. Washing our hands with soap removes germs that can
make us ill. Maintaining good personal hygiene will also help prevent you from spreading diseases
to other people. As quoted, hand hygiene at home, school and within our communities plays an
essential role in helping to reduce the spread of infectious diseases. However, there has been a
steady decline in the promotion of hygiene practices in modern homes, mainly due to changing
family demands and structure (Scott, 2013). Children are usually taught to wash their hands when
they are young, but reinforcement of hand washing by parents often decreases when children reach
school (Guinan, 2002).

Aligned with the WINS Program of the school, through partnership with Barangay Balele
Community in the leadership of Hon. Jayson S. Capacia and his members, Balele Elementary
School, through the initiative of the WINS Coordinator, Mrs. Jocelyn L. Mercado, was chosen as the
recipient of the handwashing facility which would help every child develop a good personal hygiene.

Last May 7, 2021, the Barangay Balele Leaders celebrated its turn-over ceremony program
of the handwashing facility to Balele Elementary School. This was made possible through Hon.
Jayson S. Capacia and his team with the proper coordination of the school organization. Mrs.
Joycelyne D. Magpantay took the prayer in the opening program, followed by the welcome remarks
of Dr. Glory R. Perez, Principal II. The leaders of the community, in the person of Hon. Luz
Gumapac and Hon. Jasyon Capacia, also expressed their unending support as they delivered their
messages. The WINS Coordinator answered those heartful messages as she talked of her goals
and missions for the children of Balele under her upcoming programs.

This event was participated by the school community such as the organization of the school,
PTA through the leadership of Mr. Florante Pantino, stakeholders and the leaders of Balele. The
conduct of the event observed safety protocols in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
