Conducted engineering surveys for water reticulation and managed potable water
distribution, ensuring continuous supply to the station and residential areas.

Duties and Responsibilities
General duties
Estimating labour, material and construction costs of incoming projects for small
projects
Carrying out engineering surveys for water reticulation systems in the power
station and
its social amenities
Attend departmental meetings and record meeting minutes
Prepare daily progress reports for the senior Civil Engineer
Actively participated in Non-Destructive tests on steel and reinforced concrete
structures
in the power station
Preparation of tender documents, adjudication and contract award.
Conduct monthly maintenance checks on civil structures in the power plant
Review of layouts of civil engineering structures in the coal handling plant, ash
handling
plant, the boiler, turbine and generator hall and recommend optimisations.
Review of expansion project blue prints
Schedule and supervise simulator room construction project
Monitor the distribution of potable water from the main water treatment plant
daily to
areas within the power station and Ingagula residences and report to the supervisor
weekly
Project specific Duties
1. Ash Dams Department
Ash impoundment stability monitoring and routine maintenance works
Conduct soil moisture content tests
Check and record daily the piezo metric water level and the water pond level
Inspect and supervise cleaning of ditch drains.
Monitor daily the distribution of ash slurry from the power station to the ash
impound
and direct ash discharge points
Conduct weekly soil MOD AASHTO compaction tests on selected sections of dam
wall
Supervision of dust control works
2. Ingagula Waste Water Treatment Plant
Add chemicals, such as ammonia, chlorine, or lime, to disinfect and deodorize
water
and other liquids.
Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to
determine
load requirements and detect malfunctions.
Collect and test water and sewage samples, using test equipment and colour
analysis
standards.
Record operational data, personnel attendance, or meter and gauge readings on
specified forms.
Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process or
dispose of sewage
3. Main Plant Water Treatment Plant –Reverse Osmosis Plant
Carry out water quality analysis tests
Monitor the processes of the reverse osmosis plant
Monitor the processes of the demineralisation plant
Record keeping and daily reporting to the department foreperson
Monitor the distribution of potable water from the main water treatment plant
