Congratulations for your great work this week keeping the Nest clean! Firebirds RISE: There are lots of ways to contribute to the community right now in support of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation!! Quilt Raffle for JDRF: the quilt hanging in the office will be raffled off March 30 during PAA Family. Please come to the office and check out the quilt made by Mrs. Owens PAA Family! Raffle tickets are $1.00. The quilt is awesome!! Money Race for a staff member to Kiss a Pig for JDRF: one of our staff members will Kiss a Pig for JDRF if they have the most money in their collection tub on March 30 during PAA Family. The total raised minimum for this is $400 which breaks down to every CHS student donating one dollar in one of the collection tubs. Collection tubs are located in the Nest. Right now, Ms. Ferguson is in the lead!! Walking shoes for JDRF: purchase a JDRF shoe in the Nest before March 30. We will hang the shoes in the Nest!! Calendar dates to note: 1. March 24: 5th Annual Talent Show hosted by the CHS International Club at the SALT Block Auditorium in Hickory. Tickets are on sale for $5.00 in advanced and $7 at the door in the office, with Mrs. Owens, and with International Club members. Please let your friends and family know. 2. SGA Search for a Firebird Family Crest: SGA is conducting a search for original artwork that will be the official School Crest for the Order of the Phoenix at Challenger Early College. Info was given out during PAA Family. Please see Mrs. Plover for details. Deadline is March 30. 2011-2012 Prom Information: Attendees: Juniors and Seniors attend the Prom (Guests and underclassmen can be invited and approved to attend.) Price: Tickets are $50 per person. Tickets are on sale now in the office through April 6th. Date/Location: Saturday, April 14th at Lake Hickory Country Club Time: 7-11 p.m. Colors: Blue, Purple, Black and Silver Theme: Mysterioso (masks are not required, but encouraged) Parent Volunteer Hours: contact Mrs. Weaver in the office for times and information Prom Closet: There are several Prom Closets in the area. Please see Mrs. Weaver as soon as possible to take advantage of this opportunity. YEARBOOK: Pre-order your 2011-2012 Yearbook with Mrs. Hudson in the office. Yearbooks are $50.00. Checks are made to CHS. All students can submit potential Yearbook pictures to Mrs. Robbins at Deanne_Robbins@catawbaschools .net The Yearbook Staff is looking for pictures from the Early Bird Days and other school events. SAT/ACT Prep is every Thursday with Mrs. Barton. Make sure that you are READY for your test date!

FROM YOUR PSO: Volunteers needed: Every Monday, CHS needs volunteers from 9:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. to monitor the Firebird Office and Nest. Volunteers are needed to work concessions at select Hickory Crawdads games in March and April. Please email bollies@embarqmail.com to sign-up. We are participating in the Valley Hills Mall My School's Cool program!! We could be awarded up to $5,000!! Shop on Wednesday and we get TRIPLE points for ALL retail purchases! EAT on TUESDAY OR THURSDAY and we will get TRIPLE points for every food court purchased! We only get points if receipts are turned in to the CHS locker or Nest.
