Evaluation of Creative Design

1. For the project I created in DT this half term, I would level it a high level 5 ad I have used a few different materials and a couple of different tools. I also showed an understand of when heat does to different types of acrylic and how you can manipulate it to give it different effects. 2. If I were to do this project again I would improve on it by giving it a more finished look, by taking longer on my filling and more precision and care on my sawing. I would also come up with a design that has ways to make it a high level not just a simple desighn with one or two of the higher level requirement, but with all of them. 3. I started my project by marking out with a china graph pencil that I needed to cut out, this proved slightly difficult because I am no the best artist and I had a hard time making them even. When it came to sawing, I found the fret saw hard to control so opted for the hand saws, because my piece of acrylic were quite small and fiddley one or two of them snapped, I could of prevented this by putting them down lower in the vice or using a smaller vice. After that, I used a series of different techniques to try to get my sides smooth; filing, wet and dry paper and a steel ruler. Before putting mu acrylic in the oven I drilled holes in all of the acrylic so I could thread fishing wire through it and hand the various arrows, Then I put all of my acrylic in the oven and waited until it had softened so I could manipulate its shape. I decided to twist all of my shapes to show I could change the appearance of acrylic for a higher level. Once my acrylic cooled down, I rubbed braso on my acrylic to make it shine, careful not to use too much. And lastly I thread the wire to create my hanging mobile.

5. I changed my final product from my final design during the process of making quite a lot. I did this because I realised when designing my product I had not thought thoroughly through all the aspects of it. I underestimated how hard it would be to cut the arrows so I had to change the size. I also didn't realise tat because of the acrylic I had chosen I couldnt do some affects on it, I decided to keep the arrows all doing one effect, just in different ways. 6. When hanging my produnt at hope I realize that it do its purpose, well its stable and the tope catches light as in intended , although I wish I had spaced out the dangling arrows more as the sometime get caught on each other. 7. FeedBack;

Mum: I really Liked it but I think she could of thought better about the colour scheme.

Nathan: I think if she had spent a little bit more time on the filing it would have been perfect, but apart prom that really good!

Rhian: I really like it, appart from the lopsided cutting.
