I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Identify at least three animals found in their immediate surroundings (home, school, and
neighborhood).
2. Classify animals based on their habitat (land, water, air).
3. Express the importance of caring for animals.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Identifying Animals in Immediate Surroundings
Materials: Picture cards or flashcards of common animals, real objects, manila paper,
markers, worksheets
References: DepEd K to 12 Curriculum Guide – Functional Academic Science (Transition
Program)

III. PROCEDURES
A. Activity; 10 minutes
• Show different animal picture cards.
• Ask learners to name each animal.
• Let them group the pictures into three sets: animals on land, in water, and in the air.

Guide Questions
1. What animals do you see in the pictures?
2. Where can you find these animals?
3. Which animals live on land?
4. Which animals live in water or fly in the air?

B. Analysis; 10 minutes
• Discuss the characteristics of animals in each group.
• Let learners share where they usually see these animals in their surroundings.

1. How do you know where an animal lives?
2. What animals can you find near your house?
3. What animals can we see in school?
4. Why do some animals live in water?

C. Abstraction (Explanation) 10 minutes


• Explain that animals have different habitats — land, water, and air.
• Emphasize that these animals are part of our environment and need care.

D. Application; 10 minutes
• Give learners a worksheet with pictures of animals.
• Ask them to circle the animals they see in their surroundings.
• Then, draw a line to match the animal to its correct habitat.
