Learning Competency: Group Animals according to where they live (PNEKA-IIIi-4)

I. Objectives

At the end of this lesson, the pupils will be able to:

K: Identify the different habitats of the animals;

S: Classify the different kinds of animals that live in land, water and air;

A: Express ways on how to take good care of the animals and their habitats.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Animal Habitat

Materials: Printed pictures (animals and the habitats) flashcards, worksheets.

Habitat
Are you ready to learn the Animal
Habitats of these animals?

3. Discussion

We will first define what a habitat is.

A habitat is a special place where a plant


or animal lives. Just like you have a home
or place to live, so do animals and plants.

There are three (3) common habitats that


animals lived-in.

What’s in the picture?

Land
All: There are trees teacher.

Ramlex:: That’s land teacher.

Yes correct! This is land, and land has


trees and other plants that animals as
well as humans can live in this place, we
even build homes for us to live so do with
animals.

How about this picture?


Water

All: Sea teacher.

Princess: Water teacher.


Yes, this is sea water. There are also
animals that live in this place where they
make this as their home.

What’s in the picture?


Air

All: There are clouds teacher.


Redchie: That’s air teacher.
Yes, there are clouds and this picture
represents air. Where animals that has
wings can fly in the air.

So now let’s see what animals live in


these three habitats.

Where can you see this animal?

Ramlex: In our neighbors’ backyard

Are you afraid of dolphins? are good, they will not hurt people.

Yes correct! This is a Butterfly.

C. Closing Activities

1. Generalization

Now I have here two containers.

All: There’s a land, water and a picture of
clouds teacher
Yes correct!

Now we will put some trees, plants, grass,


and a house to make this land looks like a
real one.

And also put some pebbles to the water


container and some sea plants to make it
real.

And for the air we just leave it that way.

(Children help teacher to make a


representation of land and water)
Good!

Now here are pictures of the animals that


we discussed earlier. Put these animals in
the container where they belong.

(Children performs the activity)


Very good! Now these two containers
represent the habitats of the animals?

Is it beautiful or not?
All: It’s so beautiful teacher the trees,
grass and plants are so green and
healthy, the water is so clean it helps the
animals live safely and happy. And the
clouds are so blue it shows how clean the
air is.
Yes! But what if I will cut the trees and
throw garbage on the land and in the
water. Is it still beautiful?
All: No teacher!

Debie: It’s so dirty teacher. There’s no


healthy grass that horse and goat can
eat. The place is not already healthy for
the animals to live.

Princess: The water is also dirty. What


will happen to the animals in the water
teacher if it’s so dirty, they might die.
Yes! So, what will you do to maintain the
beauty of their habitats?
Princess: I will never throw garbage
anywhere because it can destroy the
land, water and air.

Lovely: I will not cut trees teacher.

Sheena: Love the animals teacher.

We should take good care of the animals


because they are one of the reasons why
we live in this world, they give us foods to
eat. And always remember that we share
the same environment with some animals
so we must take good care of our
environment.

2. Application

Now, I have here picture puzzle of


animals. And I want you to form the
puzzle and name the animal that you will
see in the puzzle, where they live and
how you can take good care of their
habitat.

Very good everyone! All your answers are correct. We


do have pig that lives in the land, eagle that lives in the
air, squid that lives in the water. And by taking good
care of these animals, you've mentioned not to throw
garbage anywhere, not to cut trees and stop burning
plastics.
IV. Evaluation
Cut out and paste the pictures of the animals in their correct habitat.
