There was a discussion of some VHS tapes being donated to the club and how they could be turned to DVD format. Club officers are looking into this matter. There were 20 show & tell participants. Presidents Corner
Well its workshop time once again. Since our last workshop we have several new members that may wonder just, what is a workshop meeting. At our workshop meetings we setup the clubs lathes and grinder station. Everyone is invited to do some turning and/or receive instruction on sharpening your tools or just to solve turning problems that you may have. I realize that for some of our new members, that are completely new to turning, this is an excellent time to get instruction on good safe turning habits to get into. I know that it would sure have been much easier for me to learn if I had known about the club, instead of hacking my way through the learning process. So, bring your tools if you have them, no problem if you dont. I will be bringing tools with me that anyone is welcome to use. Ray has asked several of us to bring a project for members to turn this workshop. Dont think that Im only talking to the new members. You old heads can always learn something new also or just have fun turning with your friends. So Im looking for a good turnout. We will be having Chili for lunch that Im making. It will be mild but I will bring some heat to add if you like yours spicy like me. I will be looking forward to seeing you all on the 17th. Tony Everyone feel free to add a pot luck dish to the menu for lunch. Next months meeting will be April 21st, 2012. The monthly challenge for April will be a pen. Be sure to bring yours.

Above: It was a great Show & Tell at the February meeting. A tremendous amount of goblets were shown and entered in
the monthly challenge. Ray Chipman won the challenge with Jim Orange and Greg Tompkins taking 2 nd & 3rd. The variety of shapes and decorations created a good contrast showing off the turning styles of SKW members. The SKW club members are improving the quality of their turnings by leaps and bounds. If you want to do your own comparison, just grab one of your own turnings from 1 or 2 years ago or even from when you first joined SKW and compare it with your shapes, finishes, style, and types of turning projects you do today. I think you will have to agree that the changes and improvements are tremendous. Projects this month included: a baby rattle, inlay work, segmented work, miniatures, a trembler, captured rings, goblets, a vase, a lidded bowl, multi-axis work, and natural edge work. Congratulations to every one of you!
