The book goes over what you need to be president and what exactly the president does. It also goes over questions like can the president be fired and the past presidents. This appealing for the students so that they can get background information on what all the presidents have to go through and what they needed. It goes with social studies because this would open for discussion about the current president since he has to go through all that. This book is about a boy who has an assignment that has him explore the people and places in his community. He goes with his mother and finds different places and establishments that make up his community along with the people. It would appeal to student because it could get them to be involved and go out and see their community. Most kids are mostly inside and this book could get them to explore. It goes with social studies concept of identifying public and private places in the community. The book is about imagining a world without money and all the problems it would cause. This would then go back to
history in which people used things other than money to buy things. People would trade their things in order to get other materials instead of using money. It would be appealing to students because it shows them a world where money doesnt exist. It connects with social studies in introducing students particularly first graders what money is and how it is used. The book shows why money is necessary and how to use it.

The book introduces the students to maps and how many people used maps to help them throughout history. The book also covers charts as another form of a map. The book teaches student how important maps are. I think it would be appealing to students because it gives them background knowledge of maps that they have never heard of. This connects with the 2nd grade social studies standards of being able to identify titles and symbols on maps. After reading the book the student will be able to feel comfortable reading a map and identifying symbols.

Economics

This book goes in depth about the constitution and all that it entails. It goes over the three branches in the government in a way that students can understand. It is appealing to students because the students can understand what they are read it because the book is written so that they can read it and understand. It connects to the concept of knowing what the three branches of government are and checks and balances. This book is all about the history of Native Americans and all their different cultures and how they made tools and jewelry among other things. This would be appealing to students to give them a point of view of what people before them have done. Also have them imagine if they could ever create something using only certain materials they have on hand. It appeals to social studies because it is required to know the different contributions and cultural that the Native Americans have. The book is basically an overview of everything that has to do with economics. I chose this specifically for the producers and consumers. This book tells about needs and wants which essentially has to do with producers and consumers. Consumers need things from the producers. I find it appealing for the students because it goes over everything that is important in economics. It is interesting for the students to learn about everything involved. This goes with the concept of consumers and producers. It tells they can be both a consumer and producer. This book is about using maps to help you get to places and to help you find out where you are. It starts off with being in small places such as a neighborhood and town and then the exploration really begins. It also has really cool activities for the students. That is why I think it would be appealing to students because there is activities for the students to do that reflect on how to read maps. It goes with the concept of being able to identify and explain different patterns in the map
