Subject: Preparation Guidelines for Upcoming Radio Broadcasting Training Workshop

and Contest
Date: September 27, 2025 @ 9:00-12:00

Dear Coaches,

In preparation for the upcoming Radio Broadcasting Training Workshop and Contest, we
would like to provide you with the essential guidelines and requirements to ensure your team is
fully prepared for participation.

Your cooperation is key to ensuring a smooth, organized, and productive event.

Note: These preparations are especially recommended for groups who have previously
participated in District or Division-level contests. For new participants, these are not mandatory
but are highly encouraged.

Please carefully review and accomplish the following items:

1. Technical Requirements
Each team is expected to prepare the following tools/software for virtual practice and possible
digital recording tasks:

Required Apps/Tools:

 Audio Editing Software: Audacity (free), Adobe Audition, or GarageBand ( if any, you
may download if you have non)
 Broadcast / DJ Software: Virtual DJ (optional but encouraged)
 Recording Device or App: Mobile voice recorder or desktop microphone
 Stable Internet Connection (for virtual tasks or contest livestream)
 Headphones and Microphone (for quality monitoring and recording)

Station ID Preparation
Each team must prepare a 30–45-second Station ID, which includes the following elements:

 Station Name (e.g., "Radyo Kabataan 107.5 FM")

 Tagline or Branding Line (e.g., “Your Voice, Your Power”)
 Music Bed / Sound Effects
 Call Sign (optional)
 Must reflect the team’s theme, creativity, and professionalism
Please submit the Station ID as a digital MP3 file during the workshop.

Sample Script (English)

Coaches must guide their students in preparing at least one sample broadcast script in English,
preferably structured in the two-column format:

 Left column: Technical cues (SFX, MX, NAT SOT, etc.)

 Right column: Spoken script (news, PSA, editorial, etc.)

Your script should include:

 An opening segment with intro music

 A short news or PSA portion
 A transition cue
 A closing tagline

Printed or digital copies may be used for training purposes.

Team Composition & Role Assignment

Each team should consist of 5–7 members, including the following assigned roles:

Role Responsibilities
Anchor Main presenter; opens, transitions, and signs off
News/Field Reporter Reports news content or field updates
Scriptwriter Prepares the broadcast script
Technical Operator Manages sound effects, music, and recordings
Director / Floor Manager Oversees time management, cues, and flow
Researcher Verifies facts, background, and source material
Backup / Utility Assists in any flexible role during broadcast

Each member must be aware of their responsibility before the workshop begins.

What to Bring / Prepare:

 Laptop or tablet (if available)
 Headphones and microphone
 Station ID (digital format)
 Printed or digital sample script
 Notebook and pen for workshop notes
 Flash drive for transferring audio files
 Enthusiasm and team spirit!
6. During the Workshop
The training will include:

 Introduction to radio broadcasting roles and ethics

 Hands-on technical session (editing, mixing, stinger cues)
 Scriptwriting tips and format walkthrough
 Mini broadcast simulation or dry run
 Judges’ feedback and Q&A

Suggested Team Pre-Workshop Timeline:

Task Deadline
