Instructions for students Information for students sitting Year 11 & 12 examinations at MLC All students should remain

in the examination for the entire time allocation for their examination.

Examination Timing Check actual examination time as not all of the examinations are for 3 hours. Typical examination timing sequence (eg. for a 3 hour exam) Morning Exam 8:10am arrival 8:30 am 8:40 am 9:10 am 11:40 am 12:10 am

Candidates should arrive 20 minutes prior to the commencement of examinations Start of ten minutes reading time Start of working time No further candidates are permitted into the examination room. Can a candidate bring water into the examination? Candidates may bring water to the examination provided that the water is in a clear plastic bottle with all labels removed. The water bottle should have a secure lid and the capacity of the bottle should be no more than 1000mL, a 500ml or smaller bottle is recommended. Water bottles may not be refilled during the examination. Can a candidate eat during the examination Under normal circumstances, there is NO eating allowed during an examination. However, under special circumstances, a candidate may apply to the Curriculum Council (through the MLC Counsellors) to eat food in an examination, e.g. if a diabetic. The Supervising teachers are aware of candidates who have been granted such special examination arrangements. What equipment is the candidate allowed to bring into the examination room? The front cover of each examination paper lists special and standard items allowed in the examination room. Items not listed cannot be used in an examination. Students should confirm with their subject teachers what specific equipment is permitted in the exam. Candidates should provide their own pens, pencils, highlighters, rulers, erasers or correction fluid and other items specified or recommended for particular subjects on the front cover of the examination. Equipment should only bear the original inscribed information though a name is permitted. Any equipment brought into the examination room will be subject to inspection.

These items may be in a clear plastic bag or clear container.

What equipment is the candidate NOT allowed to bring into the examination room? The only items authorised to be taken by a candidate into a particular examination are those listed on the front cover of each respective examination paper. Teachers will advise students of what equipment is allowed for individual subject areas. The following items are not permitted.

What clothing is to be worn? Candidates will wear their full winter uniform. Can a candidate wear a cap or hat into the examination room? Candidates should not wear caps or hats in the examination room. They should be removed prior to entering the examination room and left with the candidate's personal possessions. May I Leave an examination Early? You may only leave an examination at the conclusion of the allotted time. All extra notes, files, pieces of clothing etc should be stored safely in your locker locked prior to the examination. Candidates must enter and leave an examination room silently. If a candidate requires any assistance during an examination they are to raise their hand to request assistance. Make sure you eat and sleep well so as to perform at your best. Student ID: Please bring it Special conditions are to bring your letter/Card of conditions to your examination. Check seating plan for your location in the examination rooms. If you are sick or late you must ring Staff and Student Services and you will be directed to the appropriate person 9383 0264. If you are ill and are going to miss and examination you will require a Medical Certificate. Please bring your Medical Certificate into your Head of Year/one of the Counsellors as soon as possible.
