Looking for a Good Old Time?
Adult Hockey Registration Now Open
Good Old Time Hockey League and Good Old
Time Hockey are two new programs being
offered during the upcoming 2012-13 ice-time
season at the BOR in Barre. Registration is now
open for these not-for-profit adult recreational
activities, which will run from mid-October to
early March.
Good Old Time Hockey League is an adult
hockey league geared for the player who desires
to participate in a league environment, while
enjoying the game of hockey, at a moderately
competitive level. For the 2012-13 ice-time sea-
son, four teams are expected to participate in this
moderately competitive league.
Good Old Time Hockey is adult hockey group
ice-times geared for the player who wants to
participate for the enjoyment of hockey and to
achieve a thorough work-out during each recre-
ational time.
The players participating in Good Old Time
Hockey may be anywhere from beginners to
highly skilled, old or young, female or male,
someone new to hockey, returning to the game
after being away for a time, or a seasoned veter-
an who has played for years.
Good Old Time Hockey will offer two differ-
ent groups: a GO group featuring a higher
tempo, faster pace of ice hockey; and a Go
Slow group featuring a lower tempo, slower
pace of ice hockey. Whatever a players level, all
players get to experience a time of involvement
and participation, being in the play and touching
the puck, during each shift, and full ice-time ses-
sion.
Registration is now open, and the early bird
registration contest ends this Wednesday, June
6th at 8pm. Pick the Stanley Cup winning team
(Devils or Kings), how many games the series
will last, and the MVP winning player. One win-
ner from the early bird registrations will receive
free registration for the 2012-2013 season.

Vermonts
Free
Fishing
Day is
This
Saturday
If youve been looking for a
good excuse to give fishing a
try, here it is! Saturday, June 9,
is Vermonts Free Fishing Day
-- the one day in the year when
residents and nonresidents may
go fishing in the Green
Mountain State without a fish-
ing license.
Fishing is a quiet, relaxing
way to enjoy Vermonts scenic
outdoors with many accompa-
nying benefits. Theres the
opportunity to catch-and-
release, or take home for din-
ner, a variety of fish, including
trout, salmon, bass, perch, and
northern pike as well as other
species. Almost invariably you
will see wildlife while fishing
in Vermont. A bald eagle or
osprey soaring overhead is an
experience you will always
remember. Whether you get out
there alone or take friends or
family, a good day of fishing
makes memories that will last a
lifetime.
Vermont has 284 lakes and
over 7,000 miles of clear
streams offering the greatest
variety of high quality fresh
water fishing in the Northeast,
according to the Vermont Fish
& Wildlife Department. Finding
a place to fish in Vermont is
easy, but the department also
hosts a special event especially
for kids on Free Fishing Day in
Grand Isle.
The Grand Isle Fishing
Festival will be held from 9am
to 3pm on Free Fishing Day at
the Ed Weed Fish Culture
Station in Grand Isle. Designed
for young anglers, this free
event offers basic fishing
instruction and the chance for
kids to catch big trout in a pond
next to the hatchery.
To find out more about
Vermonts great fishing oppor-
tunities and to plan your fish-
ing trip, contact the Vermont
Fish & Wildlife Department
(Tel. 802-241-3700) and ask
for a copy of their Hunting,
Fishing & Trapping Laws and
Guide. You can also email
them at fwinformation@state.

Jimmie Johnson stole the show, leading 288 of 400 laps to
dominate the FedEx 400 Benefitting Autism Speaks at Dover
International Speedway on Sunday. Except for a 13 car pile-up on
Lap 9 that forced NASCAR to red flag the race Johnson was the
story of the day leading at a whim and pulling away from the field
time and time again. The win was career number seven for
Johnson at the Monster Mile tying him with Richard Petty and
Bobby Allison on the tracks all-time wins list. Kevin Harvick
appeared out of nowhere to finish second, his best career finish at
the concrete track. Matt Kenseth continued strong runs to finish
third and moved to within one marker of points leader Greg Biffle
who finished eleventh. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Clint Bowyer fin-
ished fourth and fifth, respectively. As happy as Johnson was with
his second win of the season, a lot of his focus in Victory Lane
centered around FOXs sports analyst Dick Berggren, who
announced his retirement to pursue other endeavors and who has
gained the upmost respect of drivers, owners, crew chiefs and
crews over his 32 year stint in big time Cup racing. Thank you
for all you have done for our sport, Johnson chimed during his
VL interview. We are going to miss you buddy. Berggren age
70, who still displays the energy and passion of a seventeen year
old, is going to devote more time to the building of the Northeast
Racing Museum at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
At a racetrack where a casino is an integral part of the complex,
Todd Bodine gambled and won big breaking a long winless
drought in a rain-shortened truck event at Dover International
Speedways Monster Mile. Despite spinning early in Fridays
rain-shortened Lucas Oil 200, Bodine remained on the lead leap,
and with a gutsy pit strategy, he worked his way into the lead.
When rain forced NASCAR to call the race after 147 laps, Bodine
was the winner, breaking a drought of 37 races dating back to
2010. The two-time series champion won for the 22nd time in his
career after fending off an assault from Parker Kligerman, the race
runner-up. Pole-sitter Kevin Harvick, who dominated the first half
of the race, was third when NASCAR called the event after a sec-
ond stoppage for rain. Nelson Piquet Jr. finished fourth and Cale
Gale fifth. Bodine credited Red Horse Racing crew chief Rick Gay
with the race-winning call. We didnt have the best (truck) today,
but Rick made a great call, Bodine said. I didnt realize what he
was trying to accomplish, or how close we were on fuel, but it
worked out. You dont like to win em this way, but you know
what? Ive lost em this way, so Im going to take this one, and
were going to go to the house. Kevin had the best truck, but rac-
ing isnt always about having the best truck. Its about strategy and
putting yourself in the right position, and Rick Gay did that for this
team. The last Truck Series race shortened because of rain was
the 2011 season finale at Homestead. Justin Lofton finishing 10th,
maintained a one-point edge over second-place Timothy Peters
(ninth Friday) in the series standings. With the win Bodine became
the sixth different series race winner in six events in 2012.
Mother Nature scored big over the weekend taking the check-
ered flag Saturday night and raining out the Serie ACT Castrol
race at Autodrome St-Eustache, Canaan Fair Speedway, Bear

Ridge Speedway and Riverside Speedways continuing 48th
Anniversary celebration including the PASS event on Sunday.
Autodrome St-Eustaches 100 lapper has been rescheduled for
Saturday July 7 while according to Riverside owner C. J Robinson
they are working on the schedule in an attempt to move some
events around.
Joey Logano smashed Ryan Truexs glass slipper Saturday at
Dover International Speedway. Charging forward from the sev-
enth position after a restart on Lap 158 of 200, Logano overtook
pole-sitter Ryan Truex for the lead on Lap 195 to win the 5-Hour
Energy 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race, leading a 1-2-3
finish for Joe Gibbs Racing. In winning his fourth Nationwide race
in 10 starts this season and the 13th of his career, Logano finished
1.526 seconds ahead of Truex, who was 11 days removed from an
emergency appendectomy. When Logano came to the pits on Lap
152 after spinning Tim Bainey Jr. to cause the sixth and final cau-
tion on Lap 151 (an incident Logano attributed to a rookie not
giving the leader enough room), Truex inherited the lead and
appeared headed for a fairy tale finish until Logano caught him
with five laps left. Joe Gibbs Racing driver Brian Scott ran third,
followed by Kurt Busch, who ran most of the race out of control
and Justin Allgaier
Garage Garble
Kasey Kahne, the ever adaptable newest member of Hendrick
Motorsports, nabbed his first win with his new squad in one of
NASCARs crown jewels the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor
Speedway. It marked his third win in NASCARs longest race, and
the third different manufacturer with which Kahne has won:
Dodge, Toyota, and Chevrolet. But more importantly, after a
wretched start to 2012, Kahne now finds himself in prime position
to land a spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. His
string of six consecutive top 10s (after starting the season with
finishes outside the top 25 in four of the first six races) has moved
him to 15th in points, 42 points outside the top 10 going into
Dover. The Charlotte victory also put him the Wild Card hunt.
Kahne currently sits third in the Wild Card Standings, behind Brad
Keselowski and Ryan Newman.
In 2001, the late Ricky Hendrick became the first Sunoco
Rookie of the Year contender to earn top-10 finishes in his first
five starts of the season. Now more than a decade later Ty
Dillon had matched Hendricks feat with his 10th place finish at
Charlotte last weekend and at Dover on Friday with a strong sixth
place finish Dillon sits alone with six consecutive top-10 finishes
in six races.
This weekends NSCS race marks the final broadcast on FOX.
TNT will follow with six races starting at Pocono. ESPN/ABC
will broadcast the final seventeen.
Milestone Marker: Four-time NSCS champion, Jeff Gordon
will attempt to post his 400th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series top-10
finish this weekend. He is fifth on the NSCS all-time top-10 fin-
ishes list with 399, behind
fourth-place Dale Earnhardt
with 428.

The American Canadian Tour now has some time off before
heading to White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, June
23rd. Eight-time American Canadian Tour Champion Brian Hoar
started off his title defense with convincing victories in 2012, beat-
ing out four-time Lee USA Speedway Champion Wayne Helliwell,
Jr. by a collective car length in each of the first two events at Lee
US and Thunder Road. Helliwell bounced back and shook off
being second fiddle to Hoar and claimed the Spring Green 112 at
Devils Bowl Speedway in commanding fashion for his first ACT
win, stealing the point lead that Hoar had held for nearly three
years. The storybook came unbound at Oxford when 2011 Rookie
of the Year Ben Ashline rocketed to his first career ACT victory,
vaulting himself from 14th to 7th in overall points, and leaving
point leaders Helliwell and Hoar stuck in the mire. Helliwell was
forced to retire after having heating problems, leaving the #27NH
car stranded on pit road in a veil of steam. Helliwell watched his
point lead dwindle helplessly from the infield. Hoar tried to capi-
talize on the rare stumble, but struggled with tires all day and even
went a lap down to a merciless Ashline before spinning out late in
the race. He would eventually salvage a 13th place finish while
Helliwell was credited with 30th place. Helliwell now clings to a
two-point margin over the hard-charging Polewarczyk. Hoar has
fallen to third place, 11 points back. The Maine youngster, Austin
Theriault rides fourth, eight points off the heels of Hoar and is now
the only driver on the Tour to finish in the top ten in all four races
in 2012.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup begins the second half of its regular
season this Sunday with the running of the 31st Annual Pocono
400 on the newly paved Pocono International Racing (TNT, 1:00
p.m.). Pocono was last repaved in 1995. The June race has been
shortened to 400 miles this season in an effort to heighten the level
of competition on the tricky triangle. One of my favorite quotes
comes from Bill France Sr. who wrote the following on the back
of his business card in Poconos early years during a meeting with
the Mattioli family who were facing financial problems and were
looking to sell the speedway. Bill was trying to convince the fam-
ily not to sell and hang in, he wrote: On the plains of hesitation
lie the bleached bones of millions who when within the grasp of
victory sat and waited. and waiting ..died. The rest is his-
tory.
Riverside Speedway will hold their Blast from the Past pre-
sented by Steve Patenaude which will feature past track legends,
winners and champions from the tracks 48 year history on
Saturday night. It will also be double points night for most divi-
sions.
Devils Bowl Speedway will host race # 2 in the Vermont State
Late Model Championship Series on Friday night. Nick Sweet
took event #1 in the series at the 50th Annual Mekkelsen RV
Memorial Day Classic at Thunder Road.
Bear Ridge Speedway will host the Miller Auto Group feauturing
a full card of racing and Kid Rides.
