Written Response (10 marks) Answer ONE of the following in FULL SENTENCES 1) Explain in multiple ways why 1967 was an historically significant year for Canada

2) Explain the links between the 1995 Refendum and the Meech Lake and Charlottetown Accords. #1 There were two major events that took place in 1967 to make it a historically significant year. Firstly, the World expo happened in Montreal that year, and at the Expo, Charles De Gaulle the Prime Minister of France made a trip to Quebec and said Viva Quebec, Viva Quebec Libra" which meant, "Long live Quebec, long live a free Quebec." This was around the time of separatism, nationalism, and those types of feelings, and this sparked things in terms of French-English relationships, and really got separatist anger rising. This was the year that Rene Levesque, who used to be a part of Mulroney's cabinet, left the Liberals and went on the next year to form the Parti Quebecois, which was the first party specifically representing Quebec. It was a provincial party. later, the Bloc Quebecois, which ran federally formed.
