DEFINITION & TYPES

A geonet is stiff polymer net-like sheets with in-plane openings used primarily as a drainage material within landfills or in soil and rock masses, formed by continuous extrusion of parallel sets of polymeric ribs at acute angles to one another. When the ribs are opened, relatively large apertures are formed into a netlike configuration. Geopipe is perforated or solid wall polymeric pipes used for the drainage of various liquids. Made from HDPE, PP or PVC.

GEONET INSTALLATION
Installation Procedures of Geonet: 1. After the geomembrane/ substratum has been installed/ constructed, tested and approved by the Engineer, the surface shall be clean and free of excess dirt and debris. 2. The geonet roll should be installed down the slope, and precautions taken to minimize wrinkles. The tri-planar geocomposite directs flow predominately in the machine direction (along the roll length) and thus should be installed in the intended direction of flow. This is generally directly down slope unless the Engineer specifies an alternative drainage path. 3. In the presence of wind, all geonet materials shall be weighted with sandbags or the equivalent. Such sandbags shall be installed during placement and shall remain until replaced with specified overlying material. 4. If there are any obstructions (such as outlet pipes or monitoring wells) while deploying the geonet, the geonet shall be cut to fit around the obstruction. Care should be taken as to make sure there is no gap

GEONET INSTALLATION
Seams and overlaps The geonet and each component of the geocomposite (geonet & geotextile(s)) will be secured or seamed to the like component at overlaps.
