1. Roads should be crossed preferably at right angles. Crossing towers should be located outside the road boundaries.

2. Frequent crossing of the same road should be avoided. In such cases efforts shall be made to keep the route on the same side of the road

3. Minimum distance from the centre of nearest tower to road edge should be 1.5 times the tower height to have sufficient tower falling distance.

4. At all National Highways, tension towers shall be used. The crossing span shall not exceed 250 metres.

5. The ground clearance at the roads under maximum temperature and still air shall be 12.2metres.

6. At all National Highways, tension towers shall be used. The crossing span shall not exceed 250 metres.

7. For crossing of National Highways and major roads in case of lines upto 220 kV, it is advisable to provide at least one angle / section tower in the crossing span for the purpose of ease during stringing. For 400 kV lines, angle / section towers are to be provided on both sides in such cases.

8. For crossing of National Highways and major roads and double tension insulator string shall be used in crossing span.

9. JOINTS IN CROSSING SPAN No mid span joints in conductors or earth wire (s) shall be permitted, in crossing span.

10.ANTI-CLIMBING DEVICES AND WARNING NOTICES (Danger Boards) i.The Towers erecting crossing span shall be provided with anti climbing devices. ii.Besides, Danger board shall be erected on all such structures. iii.The anti climbing devices and the caution/warning notices shall be approved by the Railway

11. JOINTS IN CROSSING SPAN The crossings span shall be supported on Dead End Type Towers on either side.

12. Stringing of crossing span. 1. The stringing of crossing span should be carried out prier intimation local traffic police authorities for making NH diversion.

12. Stringing of crossing span. 3. The stringing of crossing span for one side tower should be completed one day before approval from traffic police to complete early.

12. Stringing of crossing span. 4. No. of gangs with fitters should be provided during stringing time, danger boards, tapes should be arranged through agency to avoid accidents .

12. Stringing of crossing span. 5. Insulator fittings,hardware,T&P, and 2 nos compressors with bits.2 nos steel liftys (for Dc line) should readily available at work site.
