A Non-Governmental Organization is a social service organization working towards a better society and nation. True to its name, It perseveres to bring in a positive change by uniting people who share the common vision of a developed nation, and pay back to the society. Their main mission is generally societal or environmental in nature.

A non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens groups which is organized on a local, national or international level. Task orientated and driven by people with a common-interest.

Development Perspective: The rise of the NGOs as a result of the failure of the state led development programme. They believe is that the state is inefficient agent, they try to formulate a parallel system determined to resolve the problem. The Advocacy Perspective: These group lobby to influence public policy and are often in conflict with the state and/or the dominant groups in the society.

Problem of Credibility

Corruption in Ngos Increasing corruption at different levels of funds flow is a big blot on the name of NGOs.

Hand tool of the politician The NGOs are now increasingly becoming handtool of the politician, who tend to use the same against their opponent to tarnish their image.

A recent study commissione d by the government put the number of such entities, accounted for till 2009, at 3.3 million.
